Hey guys,

I just got a Fender Champion 600 and am trying to emulate more of a Foo Fighters sound...in particularly for "No Way Back."

I've only been playing for 7-8 months or so and am still fairly newbish when it comes to pedals (and everything else, lol) but I read somewhere that they use some Overdrive so I was just wondering if anyone had some recommendations on a good OD pedal that really shines on the Champion 600?

Oh and if it matters, I'm using an Ibanez GAX30

When I had the Champ 600 I ran the MI Audio Tubezone infront of it and it sounded great. You can go from light bluesy crunch to full saturation. Should nail the Foo Fighters sound perfect IMO.

Don't personally get the second post here..

I love the 600 for it's clean sounds. Crank it up and it's awfull - at least to these ears. If you leave it turned down and use an Overdrive pedal for distortion, then that should be a fix. Except it isn't. It still sounds horrible.

Let us know how you get on - I always wanted to love these little cutie 600s..

"When they are turned up they sound horrible"

True..........at first.

String gauge/brand, room size, amp location in room, pick attack, mods (tubes/speaker), remove the "blanket" etc. Or just buy another amp, whichever floats your boat.

Nothing personal - understood your post just fine. Just couldn't agree with your conclusion, which is of course as sujective as mine!

OK man, that's cool.

Shepo - I think you'd maybe be better with something like the Line 6 M9 for the Champ 600. If you use the delays or reverbs on that unit it certainly will help the amp to sound a lot bigger than it does, plus it has some nice distortion sounds too.

Thanks,

I do appreciate any/all suggestions about gear purchases and I'll certainly look into the M9.

My Champ is fine at 12 o'clock with a Little Big Muff no less, sounds great but for Foo Fighter I think a Marshall Guv'nor plus should do the trick. Our man binterz uses one through his and its great!

The Champion 600 is great for clean tones, the guitar pickups made a lot of diference and the input that you are using too (high or low) ! I onw 2 strats with my strat plus that is modified with texas special the 600 do not sound good if I pass vol 8 at low input! But with my 70's stratocaster I can use the high input with no prob and it is ok but I realy prefer the low input anyway.
For a drive sound I can get a great tone using my OCD. In my opion my best gear with the champ 600 is my 70's strat with ocd for drive. I own a Gibson LP too but it I don't think the champ 600 was built for use with humbuckers, I don't like to use it with my Gibson too much imput gain for it.
