I have a '65 Deluxe Reverb that has a problem once it gets hot. I ususally run the volume on the vibrato channel around 5 and then the amp starts acting like someone is turning the volume up and down on the guitar. I have no idea what this may be. I want to try the normal channel the next time it does this to see if it is just that channel. Any input is greatly appreciated. Thanks, Jeff.

That's what vibrato is supposed to do; turn the volume up and down.

FYI hi-fi-guy, I know all about what vibrato does and is supposed to sound like. I use that channel on my amps in order to get the reverb. I don't even use the footswitch at all. Thanks for your input though.

Plug the footswitch in and tap the vibrato button and see if it stops. Sounds obvious, however, I did not read in your original post where you tried this.

If you have the footswitch unplugged after the vibrato had been engaged, it may have remained enabled.

Also, have you tried other power tubes to see if perhaps the tubes are going? Might be time to replace the 6V6's since you mentioned that this occurs when the amp gets hot.

Anything else and its probably amp tech time...

I fixed it right before I read your post AcousticRust. It was a bad power tube like I had suspected. I replaced them both and it is smoking again like it should. Thanks for all the replies. Maybe I can return the favor someday. Thanks, Jeff.
