??????????

Yeah .... yuk, yuk, yuk, ..... real funny guys

Now go over and bow down before your tubes and worship - chanting "I'm not worthy", "I'm not worthy". And then do 10 "hail tubes" and you will be absolved of ...... well ... something. :?

I guess you'll do the same in front of the great SS amp. If they keep trying one day they may produce one that sounds just like a tube amp huh?
Ciao!!

I have had both, and still do. Back in the late 80's early 90's I even had a M-80 half stack and while it was a cheaper system that thing was something that could not be denied as a great sounding set up. I sold it sometime in the late 90's and currently I own a 5150 head 2X Marshall 4X12's and a 2X12 cabs for most gigs and I also use a Tech21 Trademark 60 for some gigs. The older I get (been doing this 30 years) the more often I grade a 45lb combo vs the 5150....

Although the 5150 does come out to play and when it does I use effects to get my sound (except for over drive or distortion nothing better than the 5150).

So why can't we use digital/tubes together? I do and have for years......

Well, heres yet another thought...

Im in photography, and heres something that is very interesting that may relate...er or not... Anyway, for a time we ran two processes in the lab. Traditional (film) process and print., and Digital printing. We knew that the quality of the traditional process produced superior results to the "New" digital process. Heck we could see it side by side. Well time has marched on, and we closed our Traditional process down. So now we produce only prints from digital images, our quality is superior... but is it? Our customers haven't seen film for years especially the younger photographers we service.

So is it possible like photography, Digital Amps will be superior when there are no more tube amps to compare?

Just a thought...

My vote for best caption to the picture is "Amp/Space Heater"

I have sat in a room with a Twin Reverb (10 tubes) cooking away, in the summer, trying to work out a song. That's something I don't miss.

The tubes in the lower left of the picture look to be the old Svetlana 6L6s.
Anyone know if that is what the are?

Nope ... Mr Fhopkins .... I don't worship a piece equipment. Whether it be a tube, an amp, or anything. I was guilty of that at one time in my life (cars and motorcycles) but not anymore.

Now don't forget your 10 "hail tubes".

oh ... almost forgot,
Chow good buddy.

I'm not sure why tube amps and SS amps cant co-exist. This idea that there must be one or the other makes no sense. I have owned some SS amps that I liked pretty well when I played more distorted power chord types of music. Now that my tastes have changed I wouldnt want anything but a tube amp for the types of music I play. I do have a Mashall Hybrid amp that I also like. It still has a preamp tube. There is a different feel that comes only from a tube amp. I will be suprised if a SS amp could ever duplicate it. As for the tube factories all going out of business and making tube amps obsolete? When the last factory closes its doors I will be looking for investors to go into business with me to start a new tube manufacturing facility.

I don't worship any piece of equipment either good buddy but I believe you suggested that some posters (like myself) do, so a little tit for tat as they say. Kind of childish and demeaning towards someone with a different view don't you think?
