Ive seen a whole set of JJs set just for a fender 65 twin reverb

How do JJs sound normally?

Have any of you put them in a fender twin?

havent tried that amp, but i use em in a pro jr, as do many people. only a portion of those people use a full lineup though (pre and post). i am using the full JJ kit for pro jr and i like it. you'll find they are a tad darker in sound than other tubes, but honestly, dont put too much emphasis on the term "darker". its not that drastic. warmer might be a better word to use. you might find that they add a touch of Marshall to a Fender amp.

I'd call them warmer. I always liked JJ's. They saved the gain channels in my HRDlx. I run a full set in my Twin too. It's really a matter of taste. I like them you may not.

I put a set of EL84s in my classic 30 and I love them. They are warmer.

Mixing preamp tubes is half the fun. I backed some gain off my Egnater with a NOS JAN Phillips 5751. Knocked the gain down just enough. I don't do Metal and didn't need that much gain. Fun stuff.

Haven't tried them in that amp but I use them in my DeVille and Champ 600. Clear as bell and very tight response. Sorted the drive channel out on the DeVille and took away any harsh trbles. Stronlgy recommend them.

How are the Sylvania's working out for you? I've heard good things also.

+1 on the Deville. I retubed my Deville with a full JJ kit and it totally knocked out the harsh highs and brought the drive channel to life.

Dont know yet, i only ordered them last monday and they're in LA somewhere and they've got to get all the way to the north of england yet AND theres a postal strike on in england.

But i shall report back once i get them!

P.S. I got my JJ 12AT7s in the mail today and they bought quite a bit of life to the amp but the reverb hasnt been restored, But it has become more noticeable. Maybe once i get all these really old sovteks out it will be as lush as people say. If the tubes dont solve the reverb problem then i dont know whats wrong with it.

P.P.S i think the amp is possibly 19 years old which doesent make sense since they only came out in 1993 but the serial starts with AC so that tells me march 1990.

+1 "tamed" my HRDEville in the Gain channel especially, and gave a smooth, low-down cream to the voicing on the Clean. Just gotta get time to play it now.
