Caught Greg Koch last night doing one of his Fender seminars. ( drew a free Fender t-shirt for attending :D )

He was pushing roadworn guitars and the Deluxe VM amps.

The little 40 watt VM sounded quite good, he was running it through both its internal speaker and a 2*12 external closed back cab.

The digital reverb was most impressive and realistic sounding, not the anemic reverb that is in the similar priced hrbdlx

I'm sure the VM are good for what they are, but let's be honest - Greg Koch can make the cheapest Squire guitar and cheapest amp sound amazing. He's a great ambassador for the brand.

Greg's a great player and also Fender's poster boy. I'm just not impressed with the vintage molested series at all. They don't sound like 40 watters to me either. These amps are also built to a price point just like the HRD series.

Oh, the reverb isn't digital in the HRDlx. As a matter of fact it wasn't anemic either. On mine it was just horrible sounding anywhere above 2 on the dial.

OT- the reverb on the HRDx is fine when you clip R103. They scooped out too much low end in the circuit which makes the reverb sound tinny. Clip R103 and you get beauteous Fender reverb.

supro I knew the hrdlx had a reverb pan and not digital, just do not like the way it sounds all wrong.

gtrman100 interesting idea to try if I hang on to the amp.

I agree 100%. The reverb sounds like no other Fender I've ever owned.
