I am looking at the Super Champ XD and the Vibro Champ XD. I am undecided. I play a 1952 Tele with the Bigsby. I am not into effects real heavy. I only use a Space Echo and a Big Muff. I have a small 12 x 12 Music Room I play in. Most times alone. Which one do I choose. I have been looking at the older 60's and 70's Vibro Champs but they seem to be made of Gold or Platinum, so I need to go with one of these. Can't afford the Gold or Platinum. Also there is a lot of difference in pricing between the Champ XD and Vibro Champ XD. How Come. Are these amps Made in China ? Thanks for any help

I had the same dilemma a few weeks back, so I bought both on eBay.

I play in the same sort of environment. The biggest difference to me is that the Super Champ has two channels ... I don't really use the effects or 'voices', so it came down to the clean channel on the SCXD – which I'd read was better than the Blues Junior for example. Well.... it is, I love it and I use it almost all the time.

The Vibro only has the one channel and although Voice 4 (on both amps) is supposed to simulate the clean channel, it's nothing like. Also, the 8" speaker sounded thin in comparison – even at low volumes (or come to think of it, especially at low volumes).

There's a lot of people here who put a Rajin Cajun in the SCXD, but I've just got mine stock for now.

Needless to say, I sold the Vibro Champ.

PS. I didn't give a Monkey's where it was made.

Thanks for the info. I think I will look for a SC - XD. I like the larger speaker also and the 2 channel thing.

You won't regret it. I think the scxd is the best amp out there for the price. I just love the tone that comes from this thing. Best of luck.

I have the SCXD...I did a ton of research...it is incredible...you can't go wrong with this amp. It is made in China, but it is a well made great quality buy!

+1

That's exactly the reason I went with the Super Champ XD as well. I've had it since August, and I've been very happy with it. 8)

SCXD for sure, better sound and if you ever decide to do some smaller gigs you could easily use it. That would be tough with the Vibro Champ. Both are well made and a good amp for the money.

I just brought home a SCXD yesterday. The extra clean channel makes it well worth it. An acoustic sounds real nice for practice on that channel. The Clean tones are very good on the amp and you can get some grit going also.I don`t care for the higher gain settings as much. The amp is worth it for the Fender clean tones alone.I had a bad pre amp tube in mine, I put a JJ in and it sounds even better now. This is a around the home practice amp period.Nobody should be buying this for gigs except maybe coffee shops. It comes no where near the volume level of the Princeton Reverb I had.

Great little amp for home jammin!!!

I LOVE my little SC-XD; especially preset 8, with a little reverb, either with or without the gain cranked-up!

Put me down as a satisfied SCXD user. I wanted an affordable home amp. Didn't want SS, just a good clean sound. Didn't think I'd use the voicings but it is fun to use. More than enough power for playing in the house. Quality seems decent too. Bought the floor sample and got a good price.
