I'm lookin for some technical help with this one! I bought a thd hot plate, 2ohm rating for my vibro king combo. It's rated at 2 ohms also so that's all good. Now i also have the 2 12 extension cab which is rated at 4 ohms. My questions is if I plug my ext. cab into the hot plate, will it hurt the amp or cabinet????? Does the amp and ext. cab change the overall ohms that are going into the hot plate at one time????

Hi there and welcome to the forum. Plugging in the ext speaker will not hurt the amp or cab, but would most likely overheat the THD in short order. The internal speakers provide a 2.7ohm load, the ext cab a 4ohm load, combined in parallel a 1.6ohm load. This is too low for the THD. I'd think the 2.7ohm THD would have been your choice for this amp. The 2ohm model is only rated for 50 watts, your amp is rated for 60watts at 2ohms. ART

I might be wrong, but it won't hurt the THD or the speaker. The main thing is to match the amp to the THD, which you've done.

But whatever... ask THD. They'll get back to you within a few days, as they did with me when I asked a similar question recently.

Usually, Hot Plates some with specific instructions (I've got a few), but try the web sites

The website's rubbish (frankly) and the instructions are not detailed enough to answer the question... they WILL get back to you if you send them a message though.
