I've got a VCXD and I'm very happy with it. I live in a condo so the extra wattage of a SCXD was not appealing to me. When I found the clean channel on the SCXD didn't bypass the DSP it was really a no brainer and I saved a few bucks, too.

Good luck with yours. I hope you enjoy it.

?? Are you sure about that? You can bypass effects with the footswitch.

There was a long discussion in this forum when the SCXD came out as to whether the signal truly bypassed the DSP. These guys were real amp geeks (and I mean that in the most respectful way) who know much more about what goes on in the black box than I do. After much discussion and inspection of schematics they concluded that the signal did not bypass the DSP. I was hoping I would get a "real" tube amp in the clean channel, but it simply isn't the case.

That doesn't mean that it isn't a great amp. I think it is.

Well, all I know (admittedly not all that much) is that the footswitch bypasses the effects (according to the manual). does that mean it in fact bypasss the DSP entirely? Technically, as you say, probably not. I haven't a clue, but for all (my) intents and purposes, that's all that matters, that it bypasses the effects, even though in practice I will likely have some sort of effect in operation, reverb at least, all the time.

All of the voices on a SuperChamp are digital. Even the clean channel.

Ah, I see.
Isn't it the same for the Vibro Champ then? The reason I ask is because stratmansteve said one of the reasons (the others were price and volume) he got the Vibro Champ was because you could not bypass the DSP on the SC. Does that mean you can bypass it on the Vibro Champ?

Hello Bluesstrattone,

I got the Vibro XD for the the same reason.
Constrained by cash shortage I wondered
"will I be happy with it". Sure enough it's fine
for the levels of my playing, I'm quite happy with it.

I still got a hankering for a pro-jr. :D

Cheers

hey mr bill,

i actually returned the vibrochamp, when i got home with my purchase, my wife asked me if i really needed the amp. she basically pointed out my gear as if she were doing inventory.

it did sound really nice though.
ill buy it later.

No, you can't bypass the DSP on the VCXD either. My point was I was willing to pay more for the Super if it bypassed the DSP, but since it didn't the VCXD was good enough for my purposes.
