I have a Mexican normal black Blues JR . The question I have is related to a noise that it is making .

What the problem is , is when the middle switch is turned up or down at the 6 to 6 1/2 possition the amp makes a popping sound :?: . There is also a static sound like a badly tuned radio associated with it right through the complete dail radiaus. What I also notice below said popping sound there seems to be a drastic reduction of amplification and adjustment with treble, bass, and middle.

Just a side note this amp is very rarely moved and only played at bedroom levels. Also the volumn is mostly set at 9 with the master set at 3-4.

The nearest Fender/Music store is over 1 hour away.

Thanks for the help
Dave

Just to add I use a Fender standard Stratocaster , and there is no difference what position I am using with the 5 way switch!

Making a completely wild guess here.
The contacts in the pot may have oxidized,
safest is to have a tech clean it with contact cleaner. If possible, not sure what pots were used in the amp and if they are open enough to be cleaned with a bit of contact spray.

You do have to open the amp up to do this and get to the pots, so all the words about being careful and dangerous possibly lethal high voltages floating around the power caps apply.
