I just thought that i would post my thoughts about this amp even though its already been discussed enough. The princeton 112 plus was my second amplifier. I bought used at our local guitar store down in Arizona. I have to say im really satisfied with it. the clean sound is very nice on it and the distortion is very satisfying for an amp at this price. I now have several tube amps which i admit are played much more than my princeton but there are always times where i play the 112 in my bedroom just for fun and im never disappointed with the sound. I would recommend this to anyone who needs a solid, quality, low budget amplifier that still puts out good sounds.

You said it man - tubes are my mainstay now too, but my Princeton STILL pushes my buttons from time to time!

I am coming late to the party too but the one i have to say is that every musician i have ever played with says to me after the first song we play together "man, that's nice tone man" that's the best review an amp can get in my opinion! no pedals just a decent guitar a cable and an amp!

Princeton 112+ lover! First amp too, jackpot!

Me too....coming in late on this, but I just feel compelled to put in my brief comments on this amp as well. I paid $80 for the amp in mint condition. Like everyone else has commented, it's a very clean sounding amp. It's warm and very Fendery. I'm not sure it will be powerful enough to gig with, but it will sure work fine in my studio and for practice. Smaller gigs are a real possibility with this amp. I don't use distortion of any sort, so the OD channel is not even an issue for me. I own lots of amps, both SS and tube. This little amp really impresses me with its build quality, sound, tone and warmth. I highly recommend this amp to anyone looking for a small amp with a big clean sound and Fender quality.

Couldn't agree with you more - I paid next to nothing for mine too and I still love the clean channel. It takes well to an overdrive pedal while on the clean channel though if you are ever compelled... I run mine in stereo with a modified Champ 600 and the tandem sounds killer! Enjoy it!

Bought my Princeton 112 plus new on sale in 1998. Compared it to Marshall solid states and a fender Deluxe 40 watt tube amp. It was the best sound for price. I bought it for the bass sound and it competes when you play with others with 100 watt to 300 watt tube amps. Not playing stadiums and would mike amp in that scenario. Also use a Laney IRT60 and the bass on the Princeton is superior but that is where solid state amps outshine tube amps. Planning on buying a switch to bi-amp. Thinking of running pedals through Princeton only. If I put my delay pedal on minimum delay I can get the fullness sound of a tube amp with the Princeton. Very reliable amp. I've run some odd currents through the input and thought I blew the amp. I simply switched it off turned it back on and its good as new. Won't part with mine. I wonder if it had a better power chip than Fenders newer solid states.

Hi there,

My 112+ would be from around 1995. Made in USA.
I think they moved to Mexican producion later in the 90's.

An excellent amp for live and practice. As discussed above, a very sweet clean which responds well to overdrive pedal when desired. Nice reverb too.
The lead channel is pretty good for practice - I like the contour - but gets lost in the mix if used for live - not enough cut through.

This amp has one of the better clean tones of any I've heard - particularly among Fender SS's.

For anyone reading this because they are thinking of buying one (or just got one) a couple of points:

1. Yes, most of the volume in clean will come in by the time you get it to about 2 or 3 on the dial, and Yes this can be annoying - especially for practice levels.
2. Yes, they are supposed to briefy go through the lead channel when you turn off the amp so its wise to have the lead volume fixed on zero when you are using the clean channel.
3. Yes its a bargain amp at the types of prices discussed here and even a bit more.

Enjoy!
