HI guys, Sorry I have not been around for a bit....i had two heart surgeries within 4 weeks and am on a monitor and am awaiting results to see if I am a candidate for a pacemaker.'

I am THINKING about getting the new VM HEAD AND CABINET.
I am NOT into amps with BUILT IN EFFECTS so that is my big worry.
I play through BLACKFACE DELUXE REVERB<PRINCETON< VIBROVERB< VIBRO CHAMP AND A TREMOLUX..So as you can see I have quality VINTAGE AMPS and am not sure if this is the right move for me...I prefer to use my BLACKFACES for TOURS and RECORDING.
This amp willbe used mainly foir an upcoming tour to protect my prescious BLACKFACES from getting beat upo or worse STOELN as we fgo from EUROPE to JAPAN and than back home.

ANY IDEAS on this amps?????

DOES FENDER OFFER RE-issues of the old BAND MASTER,TREMOLUX:S BASSMAN in the head/cab style?????

THANKS FOR ANY HELP YOU CAN OFFER.

BTW I play mostly GIBSON:S with the exception a NASH STRAT and 3 TELE'S my FIRST GUITAR which was as 56 original ESQUIRE, my 71 CUSTOM and 72 DElUXE all NATURAL ALL ORIGINAL AND ALL ONE OWNER..ME !!!!

THANKS KINDLY
RESPECTFULLY
James St James and The Blues Dsciples

Hey St. James! Good to here from you but hate to hear about your health problems. Sounds like you are doing better though if you are planning a tour.
I can't give you any help on the VM amp but I'm sure someone here will.
Good luck on your health and upcoming tour. Here is a link to some CS amps and vintage amps.

Pretty soon, someone will jump and say, "the Band-Master VM ain't the same as the old ones" and they will be right. That's not to say that they are bad amplifiers. I have one, and am waiting on a Weber 15 California Ceramic & cabinet that I recently ordered. It has digital effects (reverb, delay, chorus) and you can leave them turned off. Unlike the older spring reverbs, you won't get crashing sounds if someone bumps into your rig.

I quite like mine. I've been playing it through a Hartke 1-15 until the Weber gets here, and it puts out a great tone when coupled with my 335.

If you're laid up, it'll be hard to try one out in person. That's always the test, since our prejudices and stereotypes determine what we think we hear.

In my case, what I hear is responsiveness: when I dig in, I get snap, and when I lay back, it mellows out. You may want to EQ it differently from the way I do mine, but that's what music's all about.

Good luck with a speedy recovery.

Hope your health continues to improve and your back on the road soon. As far as the VM series, I played the Deluxe combo which is the same basic amp as the Bandmaster VM and liked it, however it did not sound the same as a traditional blackface such as the Deluxe Reverb or Twin. If you like a head/cabinet set up and traditional blackface sound you might consider the Super-Sonic head and cabinet. Great tone with the sound of the Vibrolux. These are really well built and sounding and I kind of like the blonde tolex. Don't blame you for not taking the vintage equipment on the road. For performing new is the way to go especially for reliability. Good luck.

It appears that the VM models are being discontinued -- MF lists them as clearance items.

St James I hope you're on your feet real soon.
I'd get a vintage Bandmaster before I got the vintage molested series.
Silverface Bandmasters can still be had a reasonable prices. Sometimes even less than the VM. The VM's a lot of cash for a Mexican made PCB amp.

I had a Silverface Bandmaster in 73's and loved it. I sold it for a Twin and really regret it today. I was looking at the VM and it sounds like no Bandmaster I ever had or borrowed. The tranny's are kind of small in it and it doesn't sound or feel like a normal 40 watt amp. Ity has a lot of bottom end, but it seems to lack any sparkle. Something seems to be missing. You'd have to try it. I think because you have a vintage point of reference like I do, you may not like it.

I would agree that if you want to stay Fender, Super-Sonic may be the way to go.
