Within the last couple days, my BJR has been making a slight "pop" then the volume drops and also slightly changes the tone. I don't understand electronics very much. Could it be a bad tube or something deeper in the wiring. It has never left my home or been mishandled. All the tubes are set in tightly. Maybe someone has had the same problem and had a quick and easy fix. Thanks folks.

my buddy had a problem like that the tube was out of the socket a little. Check that or mabey a bad tube. Also check your cords and guitar.

I had the volume drop happen with my Cyber-Twin SE.
The reason - a tube went bad. I replaced the bad tube and all is well again. At least until a tube goes bad again. They don't make them like they used to.

Thanks guys for the info. All the tubes are "seated" properly and all the tubes glow and heat up. I've had the BJR for two years now. Maybe it is time to swap out for some new tubes.

Yep, the glow just means the heater filament is working.
Tube(s) still may have gone bad.

as soon as you said volume loss, immediately i thought power tubes. That would also change the tone some, but im not sure about your "popping" noise. That sounds like something is loose, check the cable and connection from guitar to amp.

after 2 years of abuse it may not be a bad idea to change 4 tubes...that wouldnt be expensive at all... ive had my Blues junior for 5 years now and still havent replaced them though... i probably should...

hope that convoluted ramble helps.

Funny thing about those little glowing glass bottles. Sometimes they seem to last forever, and other times you cant believe how fast the went bad.

Thanks for all of your insight. I will be taking my BJr in for a "check up". I turned it on with nothing plugged into it, and it does the same thing. Hopefully it is just a tube.

Sounds like the same problem I am having with my Blues jr ( giving me the blues  ). Love to know If your "fixs" works . I have a similar question on this Forum. Check out my feed back.

Dave, Just picked up my amp from Erie's best ampman (Ron Thomas). The culprits were bad soldering on the tube sockets, and a couple weak EL84's. They run very hot and start to go after awhile. I have been playing through it now for a couple hours and I'm glad to say the tone is back. It got rid of that little "pop" I was having and rid of the flat sound.
