I have a Princeton 65 2-chan amp with Reverb. Well its supposed to have reverb. It doesnt.

I removed the 8EB2C1B tank and found one coil open, so I bought an OEM replacement and installed it. The coils read OK on this one.

Anyhow- after that, STILL no reverb, I can get into the board, I have the schematics, but before I did that I wanted to be sure I wasn't just being stupid.

I dont have the footswitch for this amp, but I notice that it has a REVERB switch on it. The amp itself doesn't seem to have one. Which sorta makes me wonder- do i *need* the pedal to switch on Reverb? Seems a little odd that.

Assuming I don't any troubleshooting tips would be most appreciated. I note on the schematic that there are TPs near the reverb circuit that are suipposed to measure 300mv, etc. I planned to start in that area.

Thanks Fenderitstos..

I believe you need the footswitch for reverb. Mine came wth a footswtch, and I have not tried it without mine.

You can use a shorted plug instead of the switch.

Here's a fast way to check without cutting up a good cable, soldering, etc. Get a regular 1/4" guitar or speaker cable. Plug it in the footswitch jack. Take the other end and short it with a piece of wire and tape, or just get your wife to hold it or something. I hope that now your reverb is working. If so, then cut up an old cable and short it, or however you want to do it until you can get yourself a footswitch. I hope this helps. Let us know the results!

No problem! I hope that's all that's wrong with your reverb. Easy fix!

When in need of a footswitch I plug a wah pedal into the footswitch socket. Cant remember if i go socket to input or socket to output though. It works for marshalls and doesnt change channel. Sounds like it will work for fender too given the nateure of the responses you've already received.

I reviewed the schematic in more detail and as far as I can tell this amp really only has a single footswitch to toggle channels :( I dunno HOW the reverb gets kicked on..

Bummer too I figured that bad tank was the problem.. I'm gonna put the OSCOPE on the send lead and see what I got.. Maybe the replacement tank is a problem

Hi Spydox, If you look at the schematic, you'll notice the reverb switch requires a TRS 1/4" plug. You should be able to use one of those to achieve your switching needs and test your amp. Otherwise, I'd check the tubes. ART

Yeah, so a regular guitar cable wouldn't have worked. Sorry, I guess I told you wrong. Do you have a TRS (stereo) 1/4" cable?

Hey Spydox is this the Vintage Series Reissue Princeton 65 Reverb? If not, I was looking at the wrong schematic and apologize for the mis-cue.ART
