I sat down to jam through my Champ 600 and when I turned it on I got a horrible loud buzz coming from it. The volume knob had no effect on it, was just buzzing constantly with nothing plugged in yet.
So I turned my DeVille on and played through that but after 10 mins my head was busted with loudness so I tried the Champ again and it was gone. Wtf?

Anyone had same prob with their Champ 600?

My amp tech buddy has been seeing lot's of 600's on his bench with all kinds of problems. You would be a lot better off building your own Tweed Champ clone for around $300-400 and have a solid, reliable, great sounding amp that you hand wired with your own two hands.

Hey 63, wish I could, I've not got the smarts for that unfortunately. I'd love to do something like that someday though.
What kind of problems? Did he say?

I only got it so I can play in the house at a quiet level but it freaked me out and I've only had it a small time. The only things I changed were the tubes for Mesa's.

Mostly cheap component and tube failures. Good components wouldn't drive the cost of the amp up too much because it's such a simple amp.
