I used to run JJ's in my HRDlx at 82mv. Sounded pretty good. If I were you, I'd dump the Groove Tubes. I've never had any luck with them but YMMV.

Hey supro, quick question. I know how dissatisfied you are with the GT's so I'm curious as to what type of tubes you swapped out on your rebel 20? Last I checked the rebel's came stock with gt's. I personally don't have anything against them and think they are great sounding tubes, as made evident by the rebel 20 that I had the pleasure to play at my local music store. Is is more of a reliability issue that you've had with them? Just curiouse cause i'm in the market for new tubes for my trri.
Thanks.

Oh, and welcome to the forum, Nilzon.

The Rebel comes with JJ's 6V6 ans EL84 power tubes branded as GT's. Groove Tubes is not a tube manufacturer it's a sorting house. They do not make them. Unless it's specified by the amp manufacturer you don't know what you're getting. My HRDlx originally came with Sovtek 5881 power tubes branded as GT's. You could clearly see the brand name and number. Fender specifies 6l6's. A 5881 is usable, but sounds a bit different than a 6L6. That's another reason my HRDlx sounded like crap.

Yup same thing, mine came with the sovtek's re branded to GT as well.
Took me about a week hoping the amp would "break in" before I changed them out :)

The thing about the new 5881's is they will sound like crap forever they're that reliable. They are nothing like the old 5881's.
