Guys ... I'm sorry but isn't there just a tiny little price difference between a Line 6 Pod and a Vibroverb?

It's like going on an american muscle car forum and stating that your 440 can outrun a Chevy Sprint. Ya think skippy? Wow, you really went out on a limb with that one!

I thought about crafting a well-thought-out answer regarding how the Line 6 POD touted itself as a replacement for dozens of tube amps, but then I realized you wouldn't understand the reply, because I can't even speak Buttmunch, much less write it.

Sadly, Arjay, it's not a joke.

Buttmunch illiteracy is at an all-time high, and many sociologists worry that the written portion of the language might disappear completely within a generation. :P

That's funny, I'm more than just a casual user of guitar related equipment, and I can't say I remember that ad campaign. Are you quoting something specific, or just making it up? In their own words:

OUR STORY

Inspiring innovation.

We're musicians. We’re technologists. So, we’re fanatics about engineering innovative, amazing-sounding gear that's ready to go right out of the box. And we're pros who have a track record of designing category-defining products that shatter technical barriers─so you can focus on your music.
We introduced the world’s first digital modeling amp. We're the ones behind the groundbreaking POD® multi-effect, that revolutionized the industry with an easy way to record guitar with great tone. Our Variax® guitars can do more than any other instrument in history, and we’ve led the wireless analog-to-digital transition for musicians everywhere with our Relay® products.
We haven't stopped, either. Now, Line 6 has introduced HelixTM, our new flagship tour-ready guitar processor. Helix represents a giant leap forward in guitar processing, as well as a new way of thinking about guitarists and their relationship to technology. Helix joins a long line of past Line 6 innovations including the AMPLIFi family for Practice, Play and Recording, and the FirehawkTM multi-effects processor, which both incorporate intuitive app-based editing capabilities. Our StageScape® live sound workstation and StageSource® loudspeakers make music creation even better by incorporating powerful technology like iOS, the cloud, digital networking and more.
We’re proud that our long history of ingenuity and passion for innovation has helped us to change the industry. We’re all about giving you access to the tools you need to create, perform and record in ways you never thought possible. We promise that we'll always take dramatic leaps so you can reach new heights with your music. That's our commitment to you, because in the end, we love being a part of making great music.
Recent awards and accolades include:
2016 Premier Guitar Premier Gear Award (Helix)
2016 Interface of the Year winner in the Soundcheck LeserPoll (Sonic Port VX)
2016 Wins Guitar Player Editor's Pick (Helix)
2015 Guitar World “Gold Award” (Firehawk FX)

Another spot-on observation, SA. It's only our language and the command of it which separates us from the lower-order primates with caudal appendages.

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

I could not find an "English to Buttmunch" translator app, so I'm typing these words very slowly, in the hopes that you will understand them:

(1) The words "ad campaign" were not in my post, so who's making things up?

(2) However, I did say, "Line 6 POD touted itself as a replacement for dozens of tube amps..."

Page 3 (if you count the cover as page 1) of the PDF of the POD user manual:

Hmm...

(1) over two dozen tube amps listed.
(2) Touting is implied.

My statement was correct.

SA, you're skating a little close to "childish name-calling" territory, and for me that's where the conversation ends.
But I thought you might be amused to know, whenever I read your forum name, I always read it in my head as "Screamin' I'm a Dildo". Funny how things work out like that sometimes.

Interesting--I prove my point (with documentation) and prove your supposition and charge were (at best) wrong and (at worst) a lie, and you totally change the subject rather than admit your error.

Yes, I'm being childish and immature.

I'm not being base, though.
You think you're funny with an indecorous sexually-related vulgar joke? At least my little joke was only mildly scatological--it didn't degrade into something cheap and tawdry...or maybe my joke about you not possessing the faculties to read and comprehend English is correct, and that's why something profane comes to mind when you read my user name.

I have respectfully disagreed with you on a couple of subjects, and gave you credit when I thought/knew you were right or felt your contribution was humorous...(by the way, don't ask me to look up the different posts to prove it--I'm not wasting my time to prove myself to a boorish, tasteless and arrogant contrarian).

When you are proven wrong (as you have been in this thread--multiple times), you change the subject and/or attack the person on an unrelated subject. Argumentum ad Hominem with a touch of Circulus in Probando, anyone?

Or maybe you're just a troll...

Just about everyone here has seen me politely handle disagreements, misunderstandings and little tiffs on this website, both under my current profile as well as a prior incarnation. Since we can't seem to politely disagree, I think I'm going to politely ignore you instead.

Station buffets are the worst, I do like the REO Sunday brunch

Before it was gobbled up by the corporate conglomerate, the one on Lake Mead Blvd (near Henderson) was known as "The Reserve" and there were five or six independent restaurants within. All featured top-notch cuisine and we stayed there often. Unfortunately, all that got flushed when it became The Fiesta.

:(

Now that the smoke has settled perhaps we can get back on topic?

Laptops, and of course, software has come quite far today in reproducing the sounds of all the amps I can not afford and at loud volumes or just for my headphones.
I don't think we can overestimate the power that gives someone just starting out or has to adhere to neighbors or family.

I have any tube amps which I use as often as I can, but if inspiration strikes I'll use what I am able to. Maybe it gets re-recorded later with a real amp, or not. It depends.

But which is the best software for amps in laptops? Pods, Amplifies and Kempers are naturally disqualified.
I use Guitar Rig 4 from NI. Works pretty good.
