Hey, this is my first post!
I need some help.
I want to buy a Hot Rod Deluxe and have found one I like in America.
The seller is willing to ship it to me in the UK.
However I have just realised that we have different power plugs. Will the amp work properly if I just buy a plug adapter or will the voltage affect the amps performance?
Thanks in advance for your help :)

Check with Fender, but I believe you'll need some sort of adapter. US using 110v versus Euro 220. Its much more then swaping power cables...

Hi Simpo, You will need a stepdown transformer. I'd check with your local music shop or electronics shop. You could get an export power transformer from Fender for the amp. But it seems most folks across the pond are using the stepdown trans. ART

Also, I have concerns running the amp at 50Hz rather than the 60Hz it was designed for. All-in-all I think you would be better off buying one that was built to work in the UK.

Not to worry, the transformers are speced to opeate at 50&60 Hz. Hey Doug, I grew up in the Santa Monica Mountains, west of LA. Are you any way near there? The fires sounded bad this year. Guess the mudslides will be just as fierce. ART

No, thankfully. I live down in the San Diego area so have avoided any major fires this year. I lived out in your neck of the woods as a kid (Waukegan).

Simp,
if you get a step up transformer you will be good to go. I was stationed in europe before and that was what I did and all my USA amps worked just fine.

just buy one made for 240v. When you've sprung for shipping and the various import taxes, you'll likely be better off. Unless ofcourse your getting one for £50.

If you do have to get a 240-110 transformer. Get a decent tronics fella to fit it inside the amp. Its by far a better state of affairs to have one hardwired to the powercord and fitted inside the amps cab. There will never be any chance of it being missed out then.
