Hi Guys,

Im in the market for a lil practice amp and cant decide which to go for the Vibro Champ XD or the Champion 600....whats your thoughts on this? does the Champion 600 take pedals well? and has anyone tried/used them with a multieffects?

Any thoughts would be very welcome...

Hello Fenderibo,

I was faced with the very same question 10 months ago.
I needed a small amp to tote about, enter the 600 nice little
amp and I coupled a Danelectro Corned Beef reverb pedal
and all was cool. Around June I found myself playing the
Vibro and the Super in various stores. By July I sold the 600
and got a Vibro, all those bells and whistles turned me on.

$80 more and I could have purchased a Super
but I didn't have $80 more. so here we are.

Cheers.

The Champion 600 is a basic little beast (inputs and a volume knob) that sounds really good but it's just an amp, no gadgets. If you have pedals it will take them just fine.

If you want a more modern amp with some goodies then the Vibro is the way to go.

Both are good practice units, just depends on what you want.

Vibro Champ without a doubt. The 600's okay but the 6" speaker limits it unless you want to get a speaker cabinet with a larger speaker in it.

If you're looking for an amp to use at home, for practice and goofing around, you'd be better off going the way of the VibroChamp. It has more gadgets and gizmos: while the overall "dry" sound may not be as pure as the Champ's, it is definitely a better practice amp. If you're learning lots and lots of music, particularly if you like to play different genres, the VC's voices give you a fairly large tonal palette. The 600 has one sound -- and it does it rather well -- but it can get monotonous if you don't have a decent array of pedals.

Champ 600 is a throwback looking amp. Vibro champ has all same pieces, plus effects (Reverb, Tremolo, Chorus, Delay). You'll have much better range of playing styles with the Vibro Champ....
