I'm a 'born again' player that's been catching up on all sorts of gear over the last 6 months... I'm still no expert player, but I think my ears are getting pretty good.

I had one for a few weeks and sold it because it was too loud (for home use), but that was before I got an attenuator... now I'm looking for another VM.

I loved the sound of it. It has all the effects I need, plus drive, at the end of a really good footswitch. And it has a nice size cab for the 12" speaker. Everything in one neat package seems to be the deal.

The analogue snobs will tell you the effects aren't up to it, but if you're not recording with Neil Young this week I think you'll find them just fine.

Also, check out Harmony Central... it gets among the best reviews of any amp.

This is not a technical answer, but this is what it does...

You plug it between the amp and the speaker and it reduces the output from the amp into the speaker. It allows you to drive the amp at full chat... maximum volume if you like... to get all the tone of a nicely driven amp, but at bedroom volumes.

(Maybe someone else could explain that a bit better?!)

The THD cost more than my SCXD, but it was worth it to get the most out of an amp that otherwise would be too loud or, at low volume, too feeble.
