I suppose this question has been asked at least a dozen times, but I can't find any reference to it. I have a 1991 Twin Reverb Re-Issue that I play about 6 to 10 hours a week. The tubes are less than 2 years old and seem fine. A small amount of blue glow in the 6L6's but that is pretty common I am told. The issue I am having is heat. As you stand in front of the amp, the right side of the chassis gets "very" warm. The area is right where the power tubes are, which is why I am concerned. You can touch the metal chassis plate on the back of the amp and keep your fingers there, but barely. This seems to have been a gradual thing as I have not noticed it before. It doesn't seem to be getting any worse and the amp sounds and plays as it always does. Am I just being paranoid or is it time for a qualified tech to check things out? How hot is hot with these great amps?

Any help or advise is appreciatted....

You're being paranoid. Tubes and transformers generate heat. Unless you're red plating, the tubes should be fine. It's part of the chassis job to dissipate heat. Just enjoy the amp. My 76 has been warm for over 30 years.

The short answer is that your Twin ought to just about get hot enough to make a grilled cheese sandwich. Aren't tubes great!
