hello Fender Lovers,

i am looking for a new amp, and ive played through a couple of fenders, and i love tweed and the look of the blues deluxe RI. the Blues deluxe has an incerdible clean tone, but i havent tried the drive yet.

i just want to know if i can get some good crunch without blowing my house down with the volume levels. (im looking for good Zeppelin-like overdrive. if i put the amp at 2 on the volume, and gain all the way, will it get dirty enough for zeppelin, clapton/cream stuff? please reply

thanks

With a tube change, (JJ's) its decent but you would prob be better getting the Hot-Rod version if thats your price range, it has an extra ''channel'' (gain stage).

Otherwise they take pedals very well.

You will be fine with the Blues Deluxe - a lot will depend on other variables of course: what's your guitar? Humbuckers or singlew coil? Any pedals? But I use a Blues Deluxe and there's plenty of drive i nit - easily enough for a nice warm classic rock tone.

Oh yeah, and I forgot to mention that any minute now a certain poster is going to pick up this thread and tell you to steer well clear of anything to do with the unreliable Hot Rod series which are so poorly made that it's a miracle anyone is stupid enough to even consider using one! :)

I have a friend that I jam with and he plays a blues deluxe. To me the bass always sounds muffled, like there is a blanket on it. Maybe it is the way he has it set, but no matter the guitar, tele, strat les paul or 335, it always sounds Thuddy, for lack of a better term. For what it is worth, the 335 sounds best through it.

That muffled sound can be alleviated by a speaker swap to something brighter with a tighter bottom end like a Celeston Vintage 30.
But there go another 100$+ or so to update the already expensive for what you get HRD amp.
