I bought a Champion 600 a couple of weeks ago and I like the simplicity and tone. However, the amp suffers from a very annoying buzz. There's a bit of hum when the tubes are warmed up and some hiss when it's turned up loud which is nothing I haven't heard out of a tube amp before, but as you turn it up louder, this buzz appears. Look at this video to hear an example:

This is exactly what I'm experiencing. Too bad he doesn't tell how he actually got rid of the buzzing. Anybody here have the same problem? Maybe a solution? If it wasn't for the noise this amp would be near perfect for me...[/url]

The guy on u-tube says he is going to be selling his modification kit on www.ebay.co.uk. His user name is alnicomagnet .

I'd be interested in fitting a stand by switch, although I think I can live with hum as it's not too bad on my amp, however if the mod eliminates the hum as well I wouldn't complain. Depends on the cost I suppose.

Here's link to e bay. He only seems to be selling the modified amps at the moment:

Various kits along with a cd are now available at http://stores.ebay.co.uk/alnicomagnet.

From reading the blurb, this may only be of benefit to UK Champ 600 owners experiencing hum due to 240 volt AC current. However the stand by switch looks a useful upgrade for anyone wanting to extend the life of the valves.

I am sure I do not need to emphasise the potential dangers of electricution if you do know what you are doing and also that any modifications will void your warranty
