I considering buying my first tube amp for home/studio use. What is the difference between the VCXD single preamp tube, and the BJ 3 preamp tubes. :?: I play Rock/Contemp-Christian/Blues, and do not need the really overdriven/metal sound, I just need that little tube/creamy edge. The oveddrive/gain on my Bandit just does not cut it! I'll pay the extra $ if the BJ has "That" Fender overdrive sound + the clean.

BTW-Modded/Ibanez "lawsuit" Tele, MIM Strat sss.

The difference between the 2 amps is that the vc is a hybrid amp and the blues jr is 100 percent tube in both the preamp and power amp.The vc has digital effects and the blues jr has none.

Do yourself a favor and go play the amps your considering with your axe and , if you use them, a pedal or two. No surprises if you do this. Hope this helps. 8) Mike

The VCXD's one preamp tube is only there as a phase inverter. The amp has a purely solid state/digital preamp. budglo describes it nicely as a "hybrid" of digital/SS preamp with a tube power amp.

The BJ has two preamp tubes to handle the.....(you guessed it!) preamp. While the third preamp tube is the phase inverter.

As far as which one to choose...I dunno. I would lean towards the BJ if you don't want to mess with effects.
