My Band-Master craps out after very little playing. I was playing it at a very low volume and after about 20 minutes it went dead. No power light no nothing. I felt around inside and the only thing that was too hot to touch were the tubes. I have taken a can of duster for use on computer keyboards and blown it around the tubes to see if that would cooler them down and see if it would come back on. No good yet so just letting it cool off. So my question is because I can't remember, how hot do tubes get and can they shut down the amp if over heating occurs. I figure there is also some thermal overload protection but it shouldn't have been driven to hard since the volume was no greater than 2.
I told my friend that I would play with it and see if would crap out on me and if so it would probably be over my head and he would have to get it repaired but also wanted to maybe point him in the right direction for repair. Like maybe he should try a set of tubes first. What do you think?

While I was typing this I just tried powering it up and nothing happened. Then I stumbled on to the fuse which I find is blown. Replaced the fuse with proper amperage powered it on waited a minute turned all controls to zero and took it off standby and it blew the fuse immediately.
Where do go from here? :(

Possibly a shorted power tube if you're lucky. I know it has no rectifier tube. I'd try the power tubes. I wouldn't go with GT's though.

Thanks I was leaning toward that way. I wonder if you can still test tubes like in the old days when TV's had them. Haven't seen one of those machines at a drug store in ages.

Tommy, try pulling the power tubes one at a time and see if the fuse still blows. Hopefully if it's a tube it didn't take out something else with it. From what I understand, my Egnater has a fuse just for that purpose.

Thanks for all the help. It failed the test of pulling the tubes and problem seems to be deeper. It is off to fender for repair.

Could be the power tranny. I hope it works out for you. Is it still under warranty?

Date wise it should be under warranty but I am the second owner and did not get the proper transfer of the warranty from seller. Actually I was not aware that it could transfer until now. Hindsight 20/20. I will explain to Fender and be at their mercy so we will see.
