Hi all

I'm new to the forum, but not to Fender. Been playing Teles for about 15 years.

Anyway, I have recently bought a used Blues Deluxe (one of the USA made ones) and I seem to be having trouble with it. After a few minutes of playing, the amp make a really loud, nasty distorted noise and all of the tubes flicker.

I have traced the problem to the pre amp tubes as if I move them when the noise is occurring, it seems to fix it temporally. Would this be a tube problem or a socket problem?

The amp came with mis-matched tubes. I have replaced the power tubes already. Would replacing the pre amp tubes be the way to go?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Ant

You could clean and retention the sockets. Try pulling the tubes and reseating them a few times first.

Possibly. If it goes away when you move them. It something to try that won't cost a thing. Be careful though. Be sure the amp is off if you try it. Also the pcb's are thin too. The tube sockets are mounted to the PCB. Sometimes there are cold solder joints on the tube sockets where they mount to the board. If you wiggle the tubes and see any small cracks that wold be a problem too.
