What is the difference in the clean sound between the Hot Rod Deluxe and Blues Deville with 4 x 10's ? I'm looking at getting a twin reverb but noticed the Deville, I currently have a hot rod deluxe.

Thanks

The only differences between the 2 are the cabinet configuration and wattage. The circuitry is exactly the same. The twin is a great amp, butit is heavy, loud and will never break up until your ears bleed. If you like the 4-10 configuration, check out the Super Reverb or if you like the tweed circuit , the 59 bassman ri.Both amps will eat the deville alive as far as tone and reliability go.The Super Reverb is the same size as the Deville , but the Bassman is 10 # lighter. Both are 45 watts.

There is a slight difference :)
The second triode on the V2 preamp tube is not connected on the Blues deluxe/deville amps.
On the hot-rod deluxe/deville that is connected as the more-drive circuit.

Other than that both amp types use the same cheap hot-rod circuit board.

Twins can make the classic fender clean sound and are all around much better made amps.

If you need a Twin, I'd seriously get one over any Hot Rod series amp just for the huge bump in quality. You could always try a DRRI too.

Ok i can help you greatly with this since i own both a fender deville (A 212) and a fender twin reverb.
Let me complile it for you:

Fender 65' Twin Reverb reissue:
Pros:
better cleans then the deville
louder
It has wheels
Its more durable
Great quality parts
great speakers (Jensens)
American made (if you prefer that)
Takes pedals really well
Great built in vibrato
Tons upon tons of headroom
It has legs on the side so you can tilt the amp to get the sound out better

Cons:
Expensive!
No gain
No FX loop.
no cover! and fender charges alot for them (If they still do em)
Theres alot of valves in it! (10 of em!)
Beacause it has alot of headroom it has very very late breakup

Fender Hot Rod Deville:
Pros:
Really loud
Has gain channels, that are pretty damn good
Unlike the twin it has an FX loop
Lighter then the twin
Not bad speakers (Some prefer others but they're alright)
Comes with a cover (unlike the twin which you have to hunt one down for)
Smaller then the twin

Cons:
Bad pots, they instanly get loud then dont go anywhere (unlike the twins pots which are perfectly linear)
Fragile insides, the electronics are really fragile
no wheels! (ive had to park about a quarter of a mile from a gig and had to walk the deville and it it almost took my back out! and im 19!)
The cabs that fender make for them are the wrong impedance, mind you this things so loud it could probably kill a man with a cab
Mexican made (If your fussy about that sort of thing)

Pros for both of them:
Its Fender!
Sexy
both amazing sounding
Both got real spring reverb
Both can take cabs

Cons for both of them:
Fender dont make cabs for them...
Both probably the two heaviest amps you'll ever own. with the deville at a 53.5 lbs is pretty bad but with the twin at a whopping 70 lbs, you certainly wont be getting fat any time soon...
Both insanely loud, really loud.

But the worst of all, both have bastarding Groove tubes in them! if you want to get them out of there (Which most people do) then it isnt gonna be cheap, especially with the twin!

Both are really good, i Bi-Amp them together since they compliment each other perfectly, working in perfect harmony. Damn they are so nice on clean, i couldnt kid you, really, if you ever get the chance to plug into both at the same time, take it, you'll be blown away, especially if you use a good tele with it.

If you play mostly clean (or you play alot of hard stuff, it doesent matter with pedals nowadays) or love using pedals or love a certain kind of distortion or overdrive pedal or gig ALOT, id go twin.

ive you'd just like simple gain and cleans all in one amp and are on a budget and are gonna mollycoddle your amp then go deville

I hope thats helped

Silverface Twins are very affordable. That way you get a hand-wired amp that's easily repaired when necessary.
