I bought a HRDLX 112 last christmas and love it. However, I'm not in a band and do not need to rely on it for performance on stage or anything. Are there any guitarists out there that like their HRDLX as much as I, or am I wearing my naivete out for all to see?

Hi Jobe,
I've had mine for about a year, I think it's a great amp, with great tone, and as you have probably noticed...It's quite loud...
There are several folks here that have had a very bad time with the ones they have or had. I'm pretty sure that there are tons of very satisfied customers too. I love mine, and thats the only opinion for me that counts.
enjoy your Hot Rod Deluxe

Bill

Hey, its a great amp, with full rich tone, ive got a hot rod deville (Same amp but bigger) which i bi-amp with a twin reverb and they both sound absolutly amazing.

But from what i hear they are quite fragile so be careful of how you treat it >.<

Nice cleans until you push it then the stock speaker gets a little farty. Drive channels are pretty bad but a tube change can help. Mine was seriously unreliable for gigging. I sold it and bought an Egnater.
Some folks have no issues at all. It's a crap shoots. If you like it that's all that counts.

I dig mine as well, so much so that I bought one of the extension cabinets, which really opened up the sound that can some from these amps. I have the limited edition "emerald" model w/ a Celestion Vintage 30 watt speaker, which is the same speaker I play in most of my combos.

I have a HR DeVille which I got used six months ago at about half the price of a new one. I'm very happy with the amp, the clean tone especially (I use pedals for my overdrive). It's served my purposes very well so far.

Given the maintenance problems some folks have reported with the Hot Rod series, I'd be a little reluctant to buy this amp new. For 900-1000 dollars, I think there are probably some better options out there.

I like mine a lot. Like most people though, I don't use the drive channel all that much. There are a lot of bad reports about this amp floating around, but the number of people who use them, both professionals and amateurs, seems to belie the negativity. They sound good!

Yeah, I really do like the sound of my DeVille. Not a pristine clean like a Twin, but rather a reasonable amount of breakup starting around maybe 4 or 5 on the volume. And there are indeed lots of pros who use them -- I believe I saw Paul Simon playing through one on the Jimmy Fallon show a couple months back, just to cite one example.

Again, I think the issue with these amps seems to be reliability. Given the problems reported with them on this board and elsewhere, I'd be a little hesitant to shell out a grand for one brand new. That being said, I've yet to have any problems with mine! :)

Presently have a Blues Deluxe that I bought new when the price was lower.I love the cleans on these amps.I have owned 4 amps from the HR series and the only problem I had was with a blues jr(it was really noisy).I know the reliability is suspect on these amps, so its something to keep in mind. That being said , i purchased a 59 Bassman ri recently and it has banished my Blues Deluxe into the closet for the most part(i still do gig with it occasionally). But it banished my 75 super reverb as well.

i couldnt wait to swap mine for somthing else.

it wasnt so much the reliability, and it was unreliable. but the tone. The cleans are really nice but i found the overdrive to be a bit cheap sounding.

I am pleased with my HRDeluxe.
It gigs/rehearses at least twice a week for the last 3 years
without an issue.
With all the "warnings" of the pots being tied directly to the fragile PC board & the inexpensive input jacks, I do not throw it around like a V-4
or even my old blackface Super, but it IS a great amp.
I use the Drive channel on many occasions too but "dialed" to a minimum with the Volume/Master.

Vin
