Well I horse finagled some gas money and made the 600+ mile round trip to one of my storage units. I pulled a couple of guitars and my all but new Super Champ XD. It only had maybe 5 minutes play time on it when I put it in the storage.

I get it home and plug it all in and in the case of the 2002 MiM strat I brought home was a guitar cable,Sweet I say,no digging around for one.

You wonder the new job for the SCXD? I was trying to play and thinking "wow,I don't remember the strat or the SCXD sounding so crappy". It was doing weird volume swells and sizzles and other noises that are more suited to a Dante novel than a guitar and amp setup.

I grab another guitar. A tele with alnico 3 pups and a 4 way switch. Yep still sounds the crapola. I grab another guitar. A 97 roadhouse strat with Texas Specials. More poo for the ears. I grab my Logan tele with the SD mini hum in the neck and an alnico 5 bridge pup,and I am astounded that people like this amp so much. It sounds like nauseous dirt getting sick in the boys room. Why did I buy this again?

I start thinking (something I am not prone to so much anymore) and note that the pots on some of my guitars were very noisy. I wonder about the cord, yes the cord. I dig through my "box 'O' git'r'stuff" and pull out a new guitar cord.

WOW,the amp is loud and clear and no extraneous noises(other than my crap playing,LoL) and the pots on my gits are still making there complaints, but the hell's fury noises are gone. YEAAA!!!

The new job for the SCXD......CABLE TESTER! Yes it is a great tester of cords and pots. Man is it sensitive. Now I remember why I bought this thing two years ago.

I was actually enjoying this little amp. there are several settings that were somewhat inspiring. I do believe i will be playing this little guy a lot more(with nice guitar cables of course).
here is the little dickens sitting in my messy living room.

you can see the still in the bag manual and the box behind it.

Glad you figured out the problem, the SCXD is one of the best amps Fender has introduced. Check out the products section on this website and here some nice tones from the SCXD.

Hello Eyerish,

They sure are super little gems.
I own the vibro XD, also a prize,
but the same thing, it desires a
nice cable & along with living under
a high tension tower no econo cable
will cut it here. Glad your back on the super.

Cheers.
