Gotta couple of RCA preamp tubes in my 1965 Bassman that were in it when I got it in 1970. It's seen a few hours. 8) Mike

Tubes can last decades or seconds. It's a crap shoot. The tubes will let you know if there's a problem. I never had luck with GT's, but I've had RCA's, GE's and Sylvania's last over 20 years. I wouldn't worry about it. There is no set schedule. Just enjoy the amp. Usually when there's a problem with the amp 90% of the time it's just the tubes.

Hello Imc_1121,

Sure enough some will last many years &
some only hours. I keep extras on hand
should the fateful day arrive. Cheap insurance.

Cheers.

Yeah, Imc, those tubes should last years and they'll let you know when they're getting tired. Maybe some tone loss here and a little static there, otherwise it's a cool cruise. The older tubes are something else for their longevity. I have a RCA 6L6GC black plate(original) from my '67 Bandmaster that's still clear and kickin' it out. Had a '65 Bandmaster on the bench last month for a rehab, tubes, filters, and all the rest. Any way, it had one original RCA black plate and a worn out GE in the power section. The RCA tested out to be within 3ma of my tube. I charged the guy my labor fee for that tube. Never claimed to be a good business man, but I know a gift horse when it steps on my foot. Those tubes together sound great and now have a useful purpose. ART
