Hi guys ....... Im looking at getting my first valve amp. Now right now i only play at home but might start playing in a band so looking at something
versatile . I like to play anything from 60's surf , srv, Hendrix ,pink floyd old sabbath ,and iron maiden.
Im currently looking at The Mesa boogie 5:50 , protube twin , deluxe reverb
or 65 twin reverb RI . But im Not sure if the 2 twins might be to much for home, or the deluxe might not have enough clean head room for a band .
I would love to try a Egnator rebel 30 2X12 but no one in New Zealand
sells them yet . i have a bunch of dist and od pedals so i can get the hard stuff with a clean amp . thanks for the help input and advise on where i could start looking .

Too bad, man... that's my first recommendation for a lot of players these days. The Rebel is a killer.

If you're going to be mic'ing your amp through a PA system, both in your band's rehearsal space and onstage, the only real consideration for an amp is sound. I do agree, however, that twins are definitely a lot of amp for home use -- and, frankly, lugging the around to gigs sucks. The Deluxe is probably your best bet: it sounds awesome, it's light enough to carry easily, and it's very reliable. The only consideration is volume; if you're not using a PA system, the Deluxe's 22 watts may have trouble being heard over a drummer while remaining clean. On the other hand, a decent PA system will render the Deluxe useful in every application except getting high-gain metal tones.

If you're not sure about PA systems, I would recommend something like the Super Reverb. Four tens are nice and punchy, and it's a decently loud amplifier. You could go the twin route as well if you're willing to lug the sucker around and keep the volume at "1" for home use.

I suppose what I'm trying to say is pick the amp that has the most volume that you'll ever need. Nothing is worse than not being able to be loud enough. All of these Fenders are great amps, and I assure you that you'll be happy with any of them.

Try out a super sonic, Thats what I'm going to next, I have a bassman right now but I can't get and crazy high gain tones with it. If you get a super sonic you can get the combo and then if you want to push more air you can get the 2x12 cab for under it. It's a very versatile rig, especially if you have a couple stomp boxes at your feet.

Seriously, I'll be getting a second cabinet for my Rebel 20 shortly. I'm out of town and missed the 15% sale. I'll catch the next one.

The Egnater Rebel 20 is one of my most favorite amps of all time. It's built light years ahead of anything in the HRD series and has serious tone too. Mines been flawless. The Rebel 30 is supposed to be coming out as a head.

I use Super Sonic combo with 4x12 extension cabinet. It sure is versatile and in my opinion takes stomp boxes well too. I guess the spring reverb (only in combo) might work well on Surf (too bad it's not footswitchable). Had some issues to get clean enough loud sound out of it (because we play really loud at rehearsals) but i guess for most cases the clean headroom is enough.

Go out and try one!

Of the choices you listed (that were available to you), I would go with the Mesa. They have a nice rich sound that is more transparent to tube changes than Fender amps. It's all a matter of personal preference, try them out first. But that would be my choice.
