I HAVE A NEWER FENDER DELUXE REVERB RE-ISSUE AMP AND IT HAS HAD ALL THE PROPER BLACKFACE INTERNAL CIRCUT MODS DONE TO IT BY A VERY QUALIFIED TECH. IT HAS ALL NEW TUBES INCLUDING MULLARD CV4024'S IN THE INVERTOR POSITIONS, JAN-PHILLIPS 5751 IN VALVE 1&2 AND RCA BLACKPLATE 12AX7'S IN ALL THE REST AS WELL AS A NOS. MULLARD GZ34 RECTIFIER. MERCURY MAGNETICS OUTPUT TRANNY/ REVERB TRANNY AND CHOKE ADDED AS WELL. THIS HAS ALL BEEN DONE WITHIN THE LAST FEW WEEKS.
THE ISSUE IS... IT HAS A STRANGE BUZZ/RATTLE ONLY WHEN PLAYING A LOW E OR A NOTE. OTHER THAN THOSE TWO NOTES WETHER FRETTED OR NOT THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO NOISE ONLY THE PUREST MOST LIQUID/WARM/SOULFUL/MAGICAL TONE I HAVE EVER HEARD FROM ANY AMP I HAVE EVER OWNED.
ANYONE GOT ANY IDEAS WHAT MIGHT BE CAUSING THIS NOISE?

Since no one else has responded, I'll say maybe you have a bad/loose tube. Which one, I don't know- I'm no expert. Could be a speaker issue too. I have an un-modded DRRI and have never had an issue with it. It sounds flippin amazing. Hopefully someone with more knowledge can help you a little more than I.

thank for the good advice. I'll look in to that, maybe a Weber 12F150 speaker is in my future for this amp. I can't find any loose tubes and they are new so the speaker is looking like the culprt.
Thanks, Ed

Good luck. I would guess your speaker is having trouble with the low notes as they make the speaker cone move much more. I'd hate for you to buy a new speaker and have it not solve the problem though. I've been eyeing the Celestion Gold for my DRRI, but they are a little pricey. Maybe I'll have some money saved up when I get back from my 8 month deployment...

What speaker do you have in it now, the stock Jensen C12K?

Hi Blues, very nice tube compliment . What are you using for power tubes? Guess you've all ready snugged up all the cab wood screws and speaker frame. Can you sub another speaker cab, just to eliminate your speaker and combo cab as the culprits ? Since you had all of the iron replaced, I'd check all of those mechanical fasteners as well. But don't get inside the chassis unless you're familiar with the safety precautions neccessary, to work on amplifiers!!!! ART

many thanks for the great advice. I will look in to the fastners and the cabinet screws. Maybe they were completely tightened after the work was done to it.
It has Tung Sol 6V6's in it for power tubes but there is a set of Brimar 6V6's on the way for it.
Don't get me wrong this amp sounds delicious and warm and liquid. It just has this strange low end sound that is driving me crazy. It wasn't there before the work was done so I'm thinking it has to be caused by something that was either done or not done during that surgery.

Hi. I'm searching for answers to what I beleive is the same exact issue I am having. I have recently purchased a Real Blackface Fender Deluxe Reverb from 1964. It is in mint condition as I seem to have aquired it with some good luck. Yes anything Below The A trips my amp into this buzzing. I was told by my tech it is a characteristic of the design, that the amp was designed to sort of - Do other Things. Here is a cool article that apparrently points to this theory. Check it out ! And let me know what ever happened with your situation I am interested to know.
