I recently got a Boss Micro BR for mobility / headphone playing with backing tracks. For that simple requirement, I find it difficult to use – I know, I know... "read the friggin manual!"

The Pod looks simpler, because it has knobs.... I understand knobs – I can see knobs and I can twiddle them. It doesn't have memory for backing tracks, but I can attach my iPod for that.

As for effects, I want to dial in reverb, delay, chorus and gain (all in subtle measures and not all at the same time of course).

Anyone got any views on the Pocket Pod or the Pocket Pod Express?

I've heard others say that they liked the POD Farm.

I gigged a POD V2 for a while with a minimum of fuss. I suspect the pocket pod is the same effects batch. You may be better off to search for a pod V2 and the floorboard. You can turn the effects off or on as you want em then.

I had a pocket pod, but sold it because I didn't like it. There are too few buttons for too many settings. It's impossible to use it with one hand because of the 'second function' button. You can't see your settings because it's all on the tiny screen instead of the knobs. The 300+ presets aren't very useable and the effects aren't very impressive either.

I'd say, save up for a BOSS ME-50 or the new ME-70.

Thanks guys, but I don't want anything that's not hand held... otherwise I can just plug the 'phones and iPod into my AVT Marshall.

I guess I'll spend a few hours with the Micro BR... it's supposed to be fantastic.... maybe I'm quitting on it too soon and just need to get over my mental block with it.

I have a POd Express, and it does a great job for chorus, tape delay and tremolo. I don't use it much for additional drive or crunch because I bought my Twin Amp for the clean sound, and it's got plenty of drive all its own.

I do have a related question. I currently play the Pod connected between my guitar and amp. Can't I position it between the Effects Send and Return on the back of the Twin Amp? I didn't want to try it without checking first because the amp is new to me and I didn't want to mess it up.

Thanx,
Ian
