How many ohms should an extension speaker for the Prosonis 2x10 combo be? Also, what should the speaker cabinet (s) ohm load be for the head; with one cabinet or with 2. Thanks,

I see. The 2x10 speakers in the enclosure are wired fro 16 ohms; when we use the speakers in the combo PLUS and the extension speaker jack, the amp switches to 8 ohms. Does that mean I should use an 8 ohm extension speaker cabinet? Fender never actually specifies what the extension speaker (s) should be. Thanks,

Hi Chris, You would want to use another 16ohm cab. That would present a total 8ohm load to the amp and spread the power equally between the two speaker cabs. ART

I see. So, 2, 16-ohm loads in each of the speaker cabinets is read as 8 ohms to the amp. Got it. What if I use the internal 16ohm load and an 8 ohm cabinet? No good? Thanks a lot.

Hi Chris; It's not really a good idea to run the amp into a lower mis-match of 6ohms. The older amps could tolerate it, but I wouldn't advise it with a newer amp. The power section and output transformer would be stressed and could overheat(not good). If it were my amp, I'd probably try it with the 8ohm cab for a couple of minutes, at a low-moderate level. Just to see if I liked the increased sound spread(the 8ohm will be getting more power than the 2X10's). But the best thing to do is get a 16ohm cab ! ART

Great. Thank you. A 16 ohm cabinet it will be; truly, a work of Art. Thanks,
