This morning I stepped on my foot pedal to engage the drive on my 212 and the amp went quiet. The amp still works without the drive but every time I want to engage the drive the amp goes silent. It seems to me that the pedal and the cord are still okay otherwise there would be no response whatsoever. I've also noticed that my amp is taking minutes to "warm up" before I get anything out of it. I play an acoustic/electric Fender and know that the guitar is okay.

What gives? This amp is only a month old and was moved to a performance only once.

Any help here would be great. Is there some repair that I can do? I love this amp but will junk it for another brand in a heartbeat if it isn't going to be dependable.

could be various things, but in the end, it's gotta just be a bad connection/component in the drive circuit. honestly, i'm not sure where to tell you to start looking. you can look at the circuit board for shady-looking solder joints. this might be a job for a tech. though, partly because this could get frustrating if you dig in yourself.

the big thing here is you had it for a month, is the warranty still active, or did you just miss it? you can probably utilize fender's warranty if not the store's. i actually wouldn't rush into changing anything inside until you verify if you are covered.

not to be a smart $@!, but your volume/gain knobs are turned up, right? i know those knobs can be tricky when you have them set anywhere below '2'. this amp is not meant for bedroom levels, gotta turn up those knobs. if you haven't done so, set the volume and gain on around '3' and test it out.

side question: do you have the new silverface frontman, or the older black FM version?
