I'm thinking a loose tube or transformer may be making the noise...
How do I discharge or drain any residual current in the transformer?

There should not be any power/current thru the transformer once the power is turned off and the amp is unplugged. Capicitors are a different story though. They will retain a charge that can hurt or even kill you if you're not careful.
Take it to a tech if you're not sure.

It's more than likely tube rattle.

Could it not simply be the speaker working loose, or maybe even the baffle. Its the only real moving part of the amp, and wont hurt to check. Start with the simplest first, then move on if need be, I say.

I wouldnt rule out the baffle.I know there are quite a few complaints about the Princeton reverb and it usually turns outto be the baffle.

Don't crank the speaker to the baffle. You twist the cage and damage the speaker. If it sounds like the tranny, it's probably tube rattle. Play a note the touch each tube one at a time with a pencil eracer or chopstick. If it stops rattling, it's the tube.

In lower end amps, Fender no longer uses real wood. It's pressboard.
