I have seen a few meesages about people having good success replacing the stock SCXD speaker with the Rajun Cajun. I'm wondering if anyone out there has had a similar experience. While I am generally happy with my SCXD, there are times when I wish the sound had a little more ....... clarity, life, crispness etc.

The amp sounds very good when I play alone, but when I jam or gig, I do find it lacking a bit in comparison to the other amps that are being used.

Any expeience with this speaker or other replacement options would be appreciated

There are several older strings, here and on other sites, discussing SCXD replacement speakers - search and you should find plenty.
I installed a cajun in my SCXD about a year ago. My sense is that it sounds somewhat "better," and louder, and my recollection is that was what many others noted. I'm not sure whether it's worth the cost, but that's a pretty subjective issue anyway.
Several folks have commented how good the stock speaker sounds, particularly in light of its relatively small magnet [as compared to a cajun and others]. I don't recall any one other speaker getting as many positive comments as the cajun, but you may find something you like better. Good luck!

I have a scxd and I'm not all that impressed with the speaker. I am currently using a 1x12 ext cab. loaded with an Eminence Texas Heat. I also upgraded the tubes. I just love the sound I get now.

I can't speak for the scxd because I don't own one(although the thought still crosses my mind). But I can say that when I replaced the stock 10" speaker on my 40W pignose with a Ragin' Cajun the difference was veryapparent. Not only louder but also allowed more of the lower frequencies to be heard. I was actually able to discover a problem that I would have never known existed if I hadn't replaced the speaker. I'm not saying that the scxd speaker is bad, as a matter of fact I have read alot of reviews stating that once allowed to break in it sounds pretty goot. Sound being subjective of course. I would allow the speaker to break in and then take it from there. As a matter of fact, I would probably upgrade the tubes before I upgraded the speaker. That might make a bigger difference if not as much, and probably cheaper. FYI, I was able to purchase my Ragin' for less thatn $60usd, about the same amount for a tube upgrade, 6v6 and 12ax7's. Hope this helps....

There are a bunch of threads on this speaker swap. Look for those, but the consensus (if I might be so bold) is that the sound will be "louder", but the tone will really change over the wimpy looking stock speaker. The most mentioned change appears to be a loss of the lower/bass frequencies.

If the loss of that part of the sound spectrum is acceptable to you, then the gain in loudness might make sense. I like the tone of the wimpy stock speaker (you have to admit, it is amazing, given the small magnet).

You might prefer an all JJ/Tesla tube swap. Not a lot more volume, but more attitude.
