hey all! Got a question about an Ultimate Chorus Amp that was given to me by a friend. When I turn it on it gives a loud pop/low-end squeak and then hums like it's not grounded. When I turn on the chorus it adds its effect to the hum. Then when I turn it off, it pops again. Can anyone tell me what might be wrong, and what it would take to fix it. Additionally, I can still play through it, but it gives a low end popping noise when I play that fades out as the guitar fades.
It's free and seems to be a great amp. I just hope I can salvage it!

Numbers off the back are:

Type: PR 204
Ser. #: M647606

Thanks!

I have the same problem above.
It was playing fine until a week ago.
I plugged in my sample pedal to use the drum track and I got a really loud buzz through the amp. I unplugged the pedal.
After that I started experiencing the same symptoms above.
Its not as annoying through the drive channel, but the normal channel sounds awful.

Thanks for the post.

Mine buzzes even with everything turned down or off. A friend said it might be the pre amp and that it would cost about 150 to 200 to fix.
If you find out anything else, would appreciate the info here, and I'll do likewise.

Thanks again!

Sounds like there might be some bad or intermittent/loose wiring somewhere in the boards...that, or the input jack might need replacing?

It's worth the repair work, though--the Ultimate Chorus is a workhorse. I've had mine for ten years, it's taken a beating, and still sounds awesome.
