I am a new/renewed guitar player that just finally got a real amp. I put a blues deluxe on lay-away and when i got it home, it wouldnt play. I allowed ample time for it to warm up, but since it is used i didnt get a user manual, adn don't know how long is ample time. I guess my question is how long should i wait for my new/used amp to warm-up, and what should i know about using a tube amp?

About 15 seconds is all it takes for my BD to come up to volume.

Check your standby switch, if it is in "off or standby" position there will be no sound from the amp.

if not in standby:
Then check that all tubes are actually seated in their sockets, and the speaker is actually plugged in to the speaker jack.

If they are, take the amp back to the store, may simply be a bad tube or possibly a lot worse in a hot-rod series amp.

Also make sure the speaker jack is plugged in.

I missed one thing to check,

the fuse, which somehow seems to occasionally wander away or mysteriously change to a blown fuse on amps that are out in stores.

It is found on the chassis , right below the on/off switch.

Hope you find what is wrong.

My Blues Deluxe comes on very fast. Note that the owners manual recommends turning it and leaving it sit standby mode for 30 seconds to prolong tube life.

A friend of mine that is in a band for a long time and is fairly successful here in texas told me if i wanted that he has a guy that works on all of his amps said that he could probably get it fixed for free. I thought i would look one last time and took off the back cover to see if anything had vibrated loose. when i staarted looking into it i thought something looked wrong...it only had two pre amp tubes and no sound tubes at all. When i stopped crying from the embarrasment of it all, i called and talked to the guy that sold it to me at guitar center. He couldnt believe it either. He thinks someone may have taken them out while it was in storage. Either way they give me a new set and i am about to FINALLY get to play my new amp. thanks fo all of your help.
