Does anyone know what Fender extension cabinet(s) Fender was thinking of when they added the extension speaker jack to the Hot Rod DeVille 212? The Hot Rod enclosures listed on the website (Hot Rod Enclosures link) are not as wide as the footprint of the DeVille 212 and seem mated for the Hot Rod Deluxe.

Cheers,
Derek

Hey Budglo;
The Hot Rod enclosures cannot be the correct option for the DeVille 212 because they are not as wide. So stacking a DeVille 212 onto one of these enclosures would look odd and would probably compromise stability.

right , they are meant for the hotrod deluxe with the 1x12 cabinet.The 2x12 deville is wider.

There's no law that says you have to have a Fender-manufactured cabinet. If I had a HRDv with two 12s, I'd probably try and get a 2x10" cabinet. I like the sound of 10s and 12s together.

I was thinking about getting an enclosure for my deville but its loud enough as it is! And its already stacked ontop of a fender satellite, so id have to stack it three times and frankly, i dont think its that stable....

However the fender enclosures are all wrong for devilles, its too small and doesent match the ohm rating (The enclosures are 8 whereas the devilles are 4).

Theres quite a few gooduns knocking about, id suggest (As vulken said) 2x10 but maybe if you want that, "Wall of sound" sound then go for either more 2x12s or take it up a notch and get a 1x15.

As for make well... they're all a bit different as some cabs tend to be really trebly to match the heads of that they're made for (Like most mesa rectifiers are really bassy so the cabs are trebly).

if you've still got your GT pre amp tubes in then your deville should still be quite trebly so look for something thats got alot of gusto to it!

Could always try to make your own,
Speaker cabs are not that hard to build.

Then you get exactly the size and configuration you want.
And you get to pick the speaker drivers you want too.

I've considered building a 1x12 for my Pro Junior -- I'd use it as a head -- but my carpentry skills aren't up to snuff. Dovetail joints are not in my league.
