My local shop has a used one, looks new, for $500. They said it was 2 years old. I played it and it sounds great. But... will it handle humbuckers as well as it does single-coils? I only have a Squier Affinity strat and a Frontman 15 so I need some new gear. I'm prob getting an Greg bennett tr1 (SG copy) soon so I want to know how it might sound though the HRDeluxe.

I need an amp that has good cleans, a decent overdrive, is loud, reliable, and has a footswitch. Should I get the HRD?

Too many reliability issues. Save your money and look at a used Deluxe Reverb Reissue for not too much more. 500 bucks is way too much for a 2 year old HRDlx.

I have a tweed HRD and I love it. It has great cleans, the overdrive is very good with some fine tuning, is very loud, has a foot switch and it has been reliable. My experience with humbuckers and the HRD is that they can work well if you plug the guitar into input jack #2 which is slightly lower output. You may also need to slightly adjust your guitar volume. As with so many things tweeking is the key. Thats just my experience, but others may have some different ideas. I hope this helps.
