[quote="phansford"][quote="maxoom"]So is there a final verdict on this amp?

Seems to me you still need to determine how you want to use your new amp. Looking your rig - I am not sure what the Nightrain gives you that you don't already have..... except maybe the tone you can't find in your existing collection. quote]

Low wattage practice and recording.A different voice.
I like my amps but each has there own thing going.
As far as effects I only use a few at a time and which ones depends on many factors. You can never have too many if you like and use them.
Just because I have some high power heads does not mean I can`t find a use for some small low wattage heads or combo`s.

So you want a low wattage practice amp that you can also use for recording. And the ability to have some different voicing (?).

Seem like the Super Champ would fit your needs. You can leave some of the pedals at home when you don't feel like carting them around. I really like my Vibro and the diversity of sounds I can get from it. The Vox was good for that also..... I just hated the controls on the effects side of that amp.

I have not plugged my Vibro into my computer to record with Garageband - so I can't really speak to that. The Vox Valvetronix was great for that.... I would plug the Vox directly into my Mac. I think the Champs have the same capability if you are like me and don't have all the fancy recording equipment. (I really just play for my own enjoyment and sanity - )

I think the problem with the Nighttrain - as I see it - is you still need a speaker cab.... so how do you just pick it up (and the cab) and head off to practice. Same with the multitude of pedals.

Seems a lot of folks like the Princeton Recording Amp - maybe they can discuss the merits of that amp. Me - I like the price of the Champs.

I will say I am a low wattage guy..... blackface Champ, silverface Princeton, and the Vibro XD. All serve my needs well and I'm not blasting the wife and kids out of the house. I really like the Champs - I test drove the Super - but it really was more power than I needed. Maybe a few years ago.....

Hope that helps?

Everything you have responded with has been insulting and irritated me.
I swear you do not even retain anything I have posted.Because you post suggestions that are not what I have asked or you try to address something I just explained.I have asked how people like the SCXD period and also stated I was considering the Vox NT not the Valvetronix or Princeton recording.I did not ask about your opinion on whether my amps I own now suck tone wise.Neither did I say anything about
using pedals or bringing an extra cab being a problem.I do not need your advice on what I need to do!

Seems to me "you need" to stop giving advice on a amp you do not own NT.

I hope you just choose to not respond to any of my posts because I will no longer respond to anything you have posted.

WOW - Sorry.... don't know what to say to all of that. And none of my comments were intended to offend. You seemed to be asking for thoughts on the Super Champ - which I have played and of course own its smaller brother. I thought I was trying to answer your desire to have a recording/practice amp. The Valvetronix was mentioned only in comparison for recording directly into a computer.

I didn't say your amps sucked ...... not sure where that came from. I thought based on your comments you were looking for a different tone than your current collection - simply for variety.

And the pedals comment comes from the fact the Super has some built in effects - which might give the portability you seemed to discussing for a practice amp.

I like the Champs - played them, compared them, own a couple. Owned a couple of Vox also.... liked them.

Good luck.

I am trying to decide on the SCXD or the Vox Nighttrain. The SCXD has built in effects and more tone variations the Vox however is still pretty versatile and while lacking effects has the more awesome tube tone of the two and costs $200 bucks more.

True tube tone= Vox. Versitle and portable=Superchamp (still need extension cabinet for nighttrain)

I have both and while I use the VOX more the Fender SCXD has a more rounded bottom end on the clean channel. You can really hear the additional bass bottom end on the SCXD.
