So is there a final verdict on this amp?
I am trying to decide on the SCXD or the Vox Nighttrain. The SCXD has built in effects and more tone variations the Vox however is still pretty versatile and while lacking effects has the more awesome tube tone of the two and costs $200 bucks more.

Well, although I can't speak for the VOX, after having my XD for a week now, I couldn't be happier with it. I honestly don't know if I was this happy with my Baja when I got it. I have received nothing but good from band members about the sound/tone the XD has. That being said, some say that right off the bat, the XD can be made to sound even better with a speaker and tube upgrade...about $200. So.....there is the difference in price between the two. Wish I could help, but as I said, I really like the XD as is, without any upgrades.

I'm with Intonator on this one. I've had my SCXD for less than a month, and I couldn't be happier with its extensive palette of sounds. I recommend it without hesitation. 8)

Thanks people.I`m still very on the fence between the two but these kind of responses certainly help me feel better about the Fender as a choice.
On a side note has anybody seen the prices people are paying for the SCXD used on ebay? Like $20 bucks less than new?
Is there a shortage of new ones to buy? :?

I got mine from ThePerfectGuitar.com for $269 plus free shipping. Admittedly, it was a 24-hour sale. But if you call them and let them know you're serious, I bet you can get this price too. 8)

Hello Maxoom,

GC & SA have plenty in stock.
And it is a good amp, I own the
smaller powered vibro. It's pretty cool.

I also own and mostly use a Blue Jr.
No bells & whistles, just reverb,
it's been called a one trick pony.
I like the juniors tone---but some don't

Give us photo when you make your choice.

Cheers.

Yes poor me, this is all I have to play out of so you can see the need for a Fender amp.I really miss my old Princeton Reverb I sold a few years back.
I`m hoping a new Fender amp can fill that void.I`m actually leaning towards buying one of the XD`s.

I'd go with the Vox. Looking at your rig, I think you'd be happier. The night Train has some serious tone. I still chose the Egnater Rebel 20 over the Vox, it was way more versatile. But I do like Vox amps. YMMV

I watched a bunch of youtube vids on the Egnater 20.It is versatile but to me there is just something I don`t like with the amps voicing. The Vox NT sounds heaps better to my ears?

I think you're comparing apples to oranges - which I am sure you understand looking at your rig

Seems to me you still need to determine how you want to use your new amp. Looking your rig - I am not sure what the Nightrain gives you that you don't already have..... except maybe the tone you can't find in your existing collection.

Like the others with one of the new Champs - I have a Vibro Champ XD and I am enjoying the versatility of the effects and voicing. It is great for home play and I can tote it around without killing myself. (I don't gig - just play for my own enjoyment). I sold a Vox Valvetronix to get the Vibro. I hated the tap tempo for the effects... with the Fender Champs - you just dial in. My son still has a 30w Valvetronix and enjoys it. It seems to take pedals very well. Maybe you want to consider looking and comparing the new Champs to the Valvetronix?

If you are looking for Fender tone and like the straight tube amps - but want the lower wattage.... look into a vintage Princeton or Princeton Reverb. I recently picked up a 1969/70 Princeton (12 watts w/ 10" speaker) and really enjoy the tone. 63supro will recommend a Deluxe or DR - which are also great. FWIW - you can score a blackface or a silverface fender for reasonable prices on Craigslist. I got the Princeton for $350.

I guess it depends on how you are gonna use it.It doesnt look like you have a shortage of effects. If anything you have too many effects already.Either you still havent found the right effects for your sound you are looking for , or you are just looking for the foundation to tie it all together. If you dont need the effects, i would skip the scxd and get the vox or something without effects.Too many effects in the chain kill your tone.

Points well-made.... supports my thoughts you need to define what you are trying to achieve. We all get in a frenzy at times to buy new stuff - just because - it usually ends in an intervention and a 12 step program for buying gear....

I got a SCXD at GC a couple of weeks ago. Been dinkin and doinkin with it quite a bit.

So far my favorite setting is #3 with a Uni-Vibe plugged in for that Psychedelic Blues sound that I've always enjoyed.

It seems to be made just for the "Man Cave" and is quite versatile for the price.

Two thumbs up.

I love mine - especially with the Celestion upgrade.

Youtube vids do the Eganter no justice at all. Most of them are made by kids who just crank the snot out of it through a cab not even designed for it and recorded with a cheesy camcorder. They don't understand the amp at all. When I tried it in person, I bought one the following week after I dumped my HRDlx.
