Ok for starters I must tell you my style of music so everyone can give advice. I play alot of experimental stuff, also I play alot of blues style music. Anything from a Ryan Adams country to Portugal the man, and Red hot chili peppers style. I'm starting a band and I'm looking for an amp with great tone and as versitile as possible for different styles of songs I write. I want an amp that can take alot of traveling and is loud enough for live performances. Also I need another amp for rehearsing that needs the great tone but doesn't need massive amounts of volume.

The Egnater Rebel covers a lot of territory.

+1 on the Rebel,
Or Renegade if you do want a bit more power.

I haven't played an Egnater, but there are a few experienced players on here who swear by them. I'm sure that you won't go wrong with either the Rebel (a 20-watt head) or the Renegade (a 65-watt head or combo).

If you're particularly interested in Fender amps, you have a few routes you can take. For a touring/gigging/workhorse amp, you can get a Hot Rod Deluxe or Deville. There are a lot of people on here who loathe them, but I think you'll find that they're good amps. If you're willing to shell out a bit more bread, you ought to look at the '65 Deluxe Reverb, '65 Super Reverb, or '65 Twin Reverb. They're all excellent amps with varying wattages; you'll find one of them that you like.

As for rehearsal amps, my own preference is the Pro Junior. It's easy to lug around and it is the best sounding small Fender amp in production. At 15-watts it's not loud enough to keep up with a vigorous drummer, but mic'ing it through a PA will remedy that. I use my PJ for all our rehearsals, and it works fine with a SM-57 in front of it; however, we have a top-notch PA system in our jam space -- without it, I'd need a bigger amp.

Don't want to bang a gong, here, but you sound like someone who could really use a Rebel. Mine kills.

Another Rebel owner. The amp is awesome. Sorry again but the only work that came from my HRDlx was for my amp tech. They are not built for touring or gigging. It was the most unreliable amp I have ever owned. The downfall is a poor design and thin single sided PCBs. The Egnater uses thick, double sided boards and is built like a tank.

I would highly recommend the Deluxe Reverb Reissue. It's very versatile, sounds like a million bucks and built to last. Out of the box it's good to go, as far as I'm concerned.

LOL

The very first thing that popped to mind was the DRRI. That is if you're going to play medium- or small-sized gigs. I guess it would be pretty good for practice. I'm also sure the Rebel will do it for you, as you can go from 1 to 20 watts.

By the way, Supro, I despise you for giving me G.A.S attacks with your talk of the Rebel. It just seems so flawless!

If you have a budget and want tube goodness check out Bugera, they're great sounding and are very versatile however, they are quite fragile. (But most are way under £500 ($820))

If you dont have a budget then go for a mesa dual recto or Mark IV, V which are great since your can alter the sounds to the pin point. Or a diezel Einstein, smidt or herbert, incredible sounding amps, ALOT of high up bands use them to great sucess, but they are expensive.

But for a medium budget, check out the Hot Rod deluxe / Deville (Id suggest devilles since for some reason they have less complaints) Or a blackstar One series, they look incredible, especially for a new amp company.

If your wanting to avoid tubes then look at Line 6 but avoid the spider series, they're aweful.

I wouldn't waste my money Bugera or the anything in the Hot Rod series.
Especially if you intend to keep it for a while. The resale/trade-in value is pretty poor too. Try Egnater too. Huge bang for the buck and no shortcut in the components or design either.
