After playing my deluxe amp for about an hour or so, my power light starts to flicker a bit and my amp goes a bit distorted.

Is it a tube going bad?

Doubt it.

What Deluxe? HR, Blues, V.M., Deluxe Reverb or 57 RI? (doubt it's the latter 2!)

Unfortunately man they $@!& up a lot. I'm startin to think I'm one of the lucky ones, touch wood.

I had it serviced a few years back just to make sure everything was ok. I must take a look at another example and see if that guy sorted mine out in some way.

CC,
Your tech may have touched up the tube sockets for sure. I'd look at the 5 watt cement resistors too to see if he replaced them. It's good to check them out once in a while just to be sure they're not cooking the board.

That's cool yours is doing fine. Wish I was that lucky.

Why don't you ask SlapChop or 63 about how amazing the build quality of the Hot Rod is?

I wish you were too bro. I've never compared it to any of the other guys in the Belfast scene. I'm gonna, it's only in the last few days I thought that maybe when I asked that guy to look it over that he may have sorted a few of the problems. He sure charged me enough and I was hungover from a tour when I collected it n' didn't even ask him what he had done. I just paid for a 'service'.

Seems like a failing component in the power supply, to me. Supro indicated the 5watt resistors may be a concern or possibly the traces on the board. So I'd have your tech take a look and maybe strengthen the conductors on that circuit, if that is indeed the issue. I work on the older amps, but from your discription I'm sticking with a power supply problem. ART
