Hi there,

New to the forum so hi!

My first burning question..... i love David Gilmour and he uses tweed twins a lot. now, i cant afford one, but is the a more moderately priced model that would get me close to that sound?

maybe a Blues Deluxe reissue?

What are you suggestions? many thanks!

Best

Dan

A 2x12 DeVille may be what you're after.
Take into account everything else though from pick to strings, to pick ups to guitar to leads to effects to tubes to speakers.........etc.

Many variables and no sound can be EXACTLY copied.

Best of luck!!

The deville is louder and has either the 4-10s or 2-12s.The deluxe is a 12 inch single speaker. The deville moves more air.

Exactly, the 2x12 would be more Twin (clues in the name!) like on a budget.

Ideally though, the deville sounds nothing like a tweed .Its not a bad sounding amp though. You will have to try it out for yourself.I have a 59 bassman ri and a blues deluxe and pushed the bassman is a tough amp to beat .If you shopped around, you could find a bassman for a decent price used.I got mine at guitar ctr for 350 and there wasnt anything wrong with it other than the tweed was a little dirty and someone put a replacement speaker in it that wasnt oem.

many thanks my galloping aquine friend! ;)

Thanks for the replies guys, ive located one store outta town that has a decent selection, i will go try some of these babies.

i listened to tones of youtube clips last night, not ideal but with enough clips you kinda get an idea.....the funny thing was that the little blues junior tweed reissue with the jensen was the one that sounded closest to the tones im trying to get close to........ but i do actually want a 2x12 for a more open natural tone.

Fender amp names have always confused me! i had no idea 'twin' just meant 2x12, now that was too obvious for me

best

Dan

+1 The Deville is nothing like a tweed. The 59 Bassman will get you much closer. Serious tone and reasonable on the used market.
