I am currently running my scxd through a 1x12 external speaker. The requirements for the scxd are 15w 8ohms. I would like to swap out the current 12" speaker in the cabinet with an Eminence Texas Heat. The Texas Heat is a 150 watt speaker. Will my 15 watt scxd be powerful enough to make this speaker sound good? Thanks.

I think it is fine, so long has the impedance is the same, or larger.

The speaker in the external cab does the driving, I'm pretty sure the speaker in the actual Super Champ would be disabled.

Hi Pasloade, looks like your amp would be using the speaker out to drive any 8ohm load that you choose(1X12;2X10;4X12; etc.) The minimum wattage being 25watts suggested. The amp is rated at producing 15watts. IMHO your Champ would control lower wattage speakers with more authority and dynamics, the higher watt speakers may not provide you with enough picking and fretting feel. But it's just a matter of personal taste. Yes, the 150watt 8ohm would work. Wonder what a 2X10 with 15watt alnicos would sound like? Yeah, any speaker array at 8ohms will be fine. Good Luck! ART

I ended up installing the Texas Heat in a 1x12 cab and it sounds great with my scxd. It gives this little amp such a nice full sound. I'm very impressesd with this amp. Thanks for the help guys.
