If any of you have read my introduction to "Smokie", this is a continuation of the story and pictures.

viewtopic.php?t=26250

Here we have the Fender '57 Deluxe Tweed combo that was in the same room as "Smokie" during the fire. I've re-grilled the front and replaced the speaker with a Celestion Vintage 30 watt, as I was impatient and couldn't wait for a replica Jensen. Everything seems to still work after the fire, but the original grill and speaker didn't survive. Re-tweeding this would have been much more of a chore that I am ready for, and plus I don't have the right tools just yet.

Great amp. I'm glad it survived. I've got a 57 Twin Tweed but without the character of yours! The fire and heat did not do any damage to any of the innards? If not you're lucky!

Well, I went ahead and replaced the tubes, but I had my local amp guy check it out, and he gave it the thumbs up.

That's good. Glad for you! Did home owners cover your instruments and equipment? I need to double check my policy. You may have already answered this question as I've not read all of your other post on Smokie.

Home owners did cover some of my gear, but I had an additional policy for that gear specifically ( I also lost a 25th anniversary Stratocaster as well). According to my agent, since I'm not actively making a living playing music, I needed this to cover them as "collectibles". Otherwise, as an active musician, it was suggested that you have a seperate business policy cover gear like guitars, amps and other recording items.

That is one of the coolest amps I've seen. It would be a shame to re-tweed that amp. There is something about a guitar or amp that survives a disaster. Its the type of thing I could envision one of the old blues greats plugging into in a smoke filled club back in the old days. It wouldn't be the same if someone tried to relic it this way on purpose, but in your case it has some real vibe. I could almost see a Fender commercial emerging from your story.

Now that is a great idea!

Problem is that, if you don't recover it, that black crap will rub off on everything that touches it forever. I'm not kidding. I found a stack of CDs in a burned out building once, but had to throw them out. They worked fine, but they turned everything they touched black as coal.

However, your amp is wicked! You'll have to tell us how it sounds once you get it running again!

I did try to clea it up a bit, and the black soot doesn't come off anymore. What you are seeing is just burnt Tweed :)

That's great then! Glad to hear that your amp survived, although I'm sorry that you had to go through this whole ordeal.

If you send those pictures to Fender I guarantee that you'll see "burnt out' amps lighting up the relic market in a matter of months. They'll post a job for "guy whose job it is to light amplifiers on fire for a bit."
