I would imagine that it's in the vicinity of 70lbs. Maybe a bit more.

Right around 70 lbs. Mostly the speakers, which are hefty 2x12's . It's probably the best solid state amp Fender built at the time; distortion is a bit birittle, but the beasty is LOUD, and the spring reverb, thoug short springs are used, is pretty good.

On its side on my bathroom scales - I get 28kgs.

Very loud but a bit harsh on treble - lacks the chime. The reverb is OK for a Solid State, although not as hollow as my HRD.

Overall, given that it's a Solid State amp and over 20 years old - it gives any 2 x 12 valve a run for its money.

I went up against one of these today in a jam. They are so harsh in the top end~my '65 Deluxe Reverb didn't stand a chance against this thing. Excuse me, but I'm deaf atm. :(

The Pro 185 weighed in at 58 Lbs. in the 2x12 speaker configuration per page five of the Fender Amp Catalog I have. These were/are some fine sounding SS amps, and are generally very reliable.

I've had mine for over 20 years. I'm trying to figure out how old it is and the value. The thing is very diversified and can absolutely blow the doors off at 450 Watts. I traded a lighter amp for it due to the weight. Can someone tell me about it? Love the amp, would just like to learn more.

Ok here goes...specs first...they are 160 watts, came with three button footswitch had 2x12 Eminence Speakers and had an adjustable effects loops...Fender Part #22-5600 and cost 669.99 and cover cost 25.99 according to the June 1990 Price List.

These came out in 1989 and lasted until 1993 when the red knobs and grill cloth changed to black knobs and silver grill cloth to give them a more traditional Fender amp look. Channel A's tone control has a Mid Cut, and the B channel has Gain, Gain Boost, Mid Boost, Contour, Tilt, and Presence.

These amps were part of the "Fast Four" and were the first successful Solid State amps Fender made. They sounded good, were reliable and offered some modern sounds, along with a good Fender clean. These amps later became the Standard Series.

If you ever run across a book entitled "The Fender Amp Book" by John Morrish, pick it up it has an extensive section on these amps, as well as all Fender Amps up thru the 1990s. The reference section in the back does a nice job of differentiating the amp specs like when an amp went from a tube rectifier to a Solid State one. This book comes up on E-bay every now and again, and is worth the $15-20 they go for.

Thanks for the help. Why does it have the "450 Watt" stamp under the Pro 185 stamp and serial number though? Is that the speaker capacity?

Does not ring a bell, you got a picture? Might help to see exactly where it is and help to decipher.

RGARTNE - It's rated at 450W because that's how much electricity it takes to run it. At full power output, it takes 450w to drive it. You'll see it in your electric bill - HA! LU
