I just purchased a Super-Sonic 1x12 combo. When I got it home I noticed a low volume noise coming out of it. The noise is composed of clicks and pops, sort of like the noise you hear from a spring reverb when you rattle an older amp. When I turn down the reverb volume knob the noise goes away. The noise is even there when there's no input into the amp. The noise happens less the longer the amp is on. The noise doesn't increase when I shake the amp. I'm wondering if one of the reverb preamp tubes has problems?

My super sonic's reverb is quiet as a mouse unless all the way up, so something is definitely up. You could try replacing the preamp tube for the reverb, but it's tough to say exactly what it may be. There are a lot of caps and resistors, solder joints, and whatever else that could be affecting it as well. That being said...My experience has been that clicking and popping is often tubes or filter caps. You might try the tube swap, but beyond that I would let a tech have a look- see.

How do I know where the reverb preamp tube is? I have the same problem, bought it used and didn't notice the sound until I gigged with it. Now it aggravates me to death!

The pre-amp tube position of the Super-Sonic is as followed:

V1 12AX7WC - V1A is the input stage, V1B is the first gain stage of the drive channel (between gain1 and gain2)
V2 12AX7WC - Used in the Clean channel. V2A is the usual BF-type post tonestack/volume stage. after that, there is the preshaping filter (part of the Vibrolux/Bassman-switching) followed by V2B as a buffer stage
V3 12AX7WC - Used in the Burn channel as second (V3A) and third (V3B) gain stage, followed by the tone stack and master volume
V4 12AX7WC - V4A is a buffer stage after the switching relay between clean and burn. V4B is the effects loop send buffer stage
V5 12AX7WC Effects Loop - V5A is the effects loop return buffer stage, V5B is the reverb mixer stage
V6 12AT7 Phase Inverter -yes
V7 6L6GC Power Section -yes
V8 6L6GC Power Section -yes
V9 12AT7 Reverb - Reverb send stage
V10 12AX7WC - Reverb makeup/buffer
