Why buy something with that kind of reputation? If I was aware of it's rep I would have kept my money and bought something else. There's no excuse. If the HRDlx cost 300 bucks, I could see it. It's not really inexpensive amp. It's one of their best selling amp of all time. I would think the Deluxe reverb would be. It's been around way longer. Could it be just more hype from the Fender camp?
I actually think it has more to do with affordability, because most tube amps are out of reach moneywise for alot of people.Look at the pro jr, where can you get a tube amp with 15 watts for that kind of money?Saw a Blackheart today , a 5 watt for 599.

No mid equalizer shouldn't be a problem. It's plenty versatile enough, and you could control the thickness of the tone with the volume control, at least that would be my guess.

So have you made your final decision, yet?

The thing is I'm not a kid and could have afforded a different amp. Believe it or not, I actually liked it when I tried it out. I usually play with tubes to get what I want anyway. That turd just wouldn't polish.

Ok sweet thanks......well i think im gonna go for The 65 Deluxe reverb. But im just wondering bout sumtin. Because i hav realised that if you use a distortion pedal that the natural clean going through the distortion pedal doesnt sound very natural to me no more. But i hav only tried that with a Ibanez Tube screamer Ts5. And obviously old circuitry. But by the sounds of it i will be most likely micing this for gig situation. I just wanna be able to use the natural distortion if possible as well but be able to get to it no sweat. haha. cause my banduses distortion alot. just classic rock distortion.

I hope u understand wat im trying to say

You can't really imitate natural distortion with pedals, because they only drive the preamp. You'd need to crank the volume on the amp to get that sound. Just use the volume on your guitar to control. That amp cleans up extremely well, and if you need the dirty sound, just turn up the volume on your guitar and stomp on the distortion pedal.

:)

I'm totally jealous. I love that amp, and would really like to have one myself.

Devilles have great tone but, they only go from loud, to louder, its no good having one unless you get an attunator, or play alot of big gigs.

This is why i sold my Deville ..It is a fantastic amp but i already have a Twin Reverb which covers playing out but is really hard to get good home practice tones out of unless using a attenuator..I went to a Blues Jr which is still on the verge of being to loud...But if no one is home i can get great tone from it without blowing out the neighbors...But i see a Champion 600 in my near future for home practice when the house is full or late night practice...

Blues Jr. is perfect (IMHO) I'll mike if I need to but so far It's got plenty of ummf. I reserched the entire market and went with the BJ for several reasons 1) warranty 2) lack of bells and whisles (just more crap to go wrong) 3) price 4) sound. Cover most all my styles easily, and it really light too ( insalled a celestion neodynium). I'd recomend an amp stand to go with that BJ .

That's a good call dude. I've played heaps of gigs with a mic'd Pro Junior, and it worked just fine! As for amp stands, I always had good luck with it on the floor and an SM57 near the top of the speaker.

the DEVILLE is a great solid amp i had to dump my supersonic had it for six months and it died at a gig had power problems and it was repaired when i went to pick it up i traded it on the spot. For most gigs i haven`t had to mic it and i use the 1st input for gigging, very rarely use channel 2 (the gain channel) just straight in volume bass, mids and highs like i would use a twin which i so miss i was a fool for trading it even though it was breaking my back(the most reliable well made best sounding amp on the planet) I think a lot relies on what type of music you play would determine how much volume you need. As i got older and gained more experience i`ve learned to turn down and play with texture. The blues deville reissue works fine for my applications and purposes

The Blues Deville will be too loud for practice at home. But it would be great, merely speaking of volume, mind you, for playing with a band. Not to say that there's anything wrong with the sound of the amp, but you should try it yourself at a music store. Best of luck.

Thanks but probably wouldnt have much of a chance since we have a small music store.

But my eyes are now set on a Fender Twin. Because it has a 1/4 switch so u can change it from 100 watt to 25 watt.

Is a Fender Twin a really good amp???

Im more of a classic Rock type of person and love my cleans.
The fender twins are the most reliable well made amps on earth bar none very heavy to transport and you will have to use pedals on the floor for your distorted tones
